Another in the series of posts from our special correspondent, now known as Terra Cognita. See earlier articles: An Evaluation of Scientology, Fear: That Which Drives Scientology and Justification and Rationalization. To Be or not to Be: Is Scientology Worth Saving? I recently helped my dad fill out a medical level-of-care form. Choices ranged from doing everything humanly possible to keep the patient alive, to “do not resuscitate.” Followers of Scientology face similar choices. Lots would like to keep the church alive. Many of you reading this have chosen to step away from the pat … [Read more...]
Who Needs OT Levels?
According to this promotional piece, L11 handles everything. So why bother with OT levels? Or anything else for that matter? But then again, there are a lot of "success" stories about every scientology service (Student Hat, Purif, Objectives, Grades, Dianetics, PTS RD, Word Clearing and on and on ad nauseum) where the person proclaims it holds the answers to EVERYTHING and has made them TOTAL CAUSE on all dynamics or "no longer effect of the physical universe" or whatever. Of course, none of them are true. I saw something today proclaiming that OT VIII absolutely "cures" "amnesia on the … [Read more...]
Justification and Rationalization
Another thoughtful piece from our Special Correspondent who brought us An Evaluation of Scientology and Fear: That Which Drives Scientology. Justification and Rationalization in Scientology Rationalization of doctrine occurs in all religions. From the moment one is introduced to the creeds and canons of a church, he’s forced to make sense out of the illogical and absurd if he has any chance at salvation. Scientology is no exception. Making excuses for material that doesn’t make sense, but which one is expected to accept as true, becomes a way of life for church members. This is e … [Read more...]
Scientology Children
These have all been sent to me in the last week. The focus on children as a money-making tool, for recruitment and as free labor is very disturbing. In scientology, children are treated as "old thetans in small bodies" - meaning they are capable of pretty much anything an adult is able to do, only limited by their physical size and ability. This is one of the creepier parts of scientology -- they find nothing strange or offensive about showing a 5 year old boy signing a pledge to give money to an "ideal org." Scientology likes to justify its activities by claiming "this is just like … [Read more...]
An Evaluation Of Scientology
This was sent to me by someone who wishes to remain anonymous at this time. She is not declared, and has recently been on org lines. I find it interesting to read the observations of someone who has been inside orgs VERY recently. I come to a different conclusion about what must be done, but I agree with many of these observations. I have stated a number of times my belief that all dianetics and scientology materials should be made available online for free and the subject will live or die based purely on its workability and value to mankind). It is somewhat reassuring to know there … [Read more...]
PTS Type III
Here is an interesting document sent to me by an old friend. It concerns the handling of "PTS Type 3's" or "the insane." These are people that according to the scientology definition are being negatively effected by "apparent SP's" all over the world, or even ghosts and demons. In scientology someone "going Type 3" means having a psychotic break. I am sure this issue is otherwise available on the internet and I am not "revealing" it for the first time. Though it is certainly the first time it has appeared on this blog. And I havent seen it for 20 years or more. I recall reading it when I … [Read more...]
The Real Way To Happiness
My good friend Ray Jeffrey sent this to me, explaining that on his his daily walk with his dogs he listens to podcasts by Dennis Prager, author of a book entitled “Happiness Is A Serious Problem.” Ray synthesized the thoughts about happiness into a 13 point summary. I have not listened to Prager's podcast or read the book. And this is not a commentary on Dennis Prager's political views. But I do wish to share Ray's compilation as this really speaks a lot of truth to me. 1. Believe me -- you want to be happy in your life. 2. Only you control whether or not you are happy – not your fa … [Read more...]
Narconon = Scientology
This is an interesting piece from the Auditor magazine, the official chronicle of all things scientology: "if it isn't in the Auditor, it didn't happen" is the their motto. This is from back in the day before there was a conscious effort to distance Narconon from Scientology. Today, Narconon claims it is NOT Scientology. Scientology likewise claims all they do is "support" Narconon. This Auditor magazine story reflects the true nature of the relationship. They are not just in the same family, they are siblings. Maybe identical twins. Click on the image to enlarge: … [Read more...]
Real Humanitarians
I attended a Sunday Service and Naming Ceremony at the Unitarian Universalist congregation in Clearwater last weekend. It was an interesting experience. At the door, they give you a little program of what the service will contain. Below you will see the front and back page. I include it here because it gives some idea about the beliefs and practices of the "UU's" (which is how they refer to themselves). Here is what struck me: It was their normal Sunday Service. About 250 people were there. Their church was built from scratch, funded by donations from members. It is functional. … [Read more...]
Upper Class Twit of the Year
He is at it again. John Mappin living up to the unenviable reputation of the stereotypical British upper-class twit, once again making an absurd display of himself with the apparent purpose of getting attention. I could care less, except he makes a habit of pushing his scientology messages on social media, and I have covered some of his forays down the rabbit hole before. Here is a recent Facebook post about the awesome "add" that ran during the Super Bowl: But this post concerns some of his other rather bizarre Facebook activity. Remember, because he has inherited wealth, this … [Read more...]
