Lying As A Way Of Life
Scientology actually sent out an email that includes this: "When we go door to door with booklets, crime takes a holiday. When we run out of booklets and can't get any out, there is a rise in crime and murder." And immediately following is the "ask" -- of course. You need to give us money. In light of recent events, I thought it might be appropriate to repost a couple of videos. These were originally posted on Marty Rathbun's blog in December 2012. They are pretty self-explanatory. Is Scientology A “Terrorist Group”?
Scientology has for many years made outrageous claims about "Anonymous" -- calling it a "group of terrorists." They inflate everything that is ever said or done by anyone with even the remotest connection to Anonymous and by association, attempt to paint anyone they think is criticizing them with the "terrorist" brush. There are NUMEROUS examples of this -- perhaps the earliest was Keith Henson who joked about shooting a "Tom Cru9ise Missile" in Miscavige's window. More “Ideal” Org Fail
There have been some magnificent flops in the ideal org strategy (Malmo anyone? Cambridge? Berlin? Phoenix? Pretoria?) but I don't think any have been such a fail as Inglewood. Hyped to the hilt by Miscavige as one of the two orgs (along with Harlem) that was going to "bring scientology to the black cultural centers," it has done nothing and become a white elephant sitting in the middle of South Central LA. Not a lot of time to put this together, the Garcia hearing continues this morning (See Tony Ortega's blog). But some good ones came across the transom since last week.... Burning Up The Track The Birthday Game has become the "Fundraising Birthday Game" with the motto "Give LRH what he didnt want for his birthday, no expansion, just money not for services." Disconnection
While a great deal of attention and interest has been focused on Alex Gibney's scientology documentary, let's not forget the rave reviews for Allen Barton's Disconnection. Every person I know who has attended absolutely raves about it. I was very bummed to discover that there was no performance on any of the nights I was in LA last week. There are many wonderful quotes from this truly inspirational man who had the courage to stand for what he thought was right and good and just. I had intended this post to come earlier in the day, where in the US we are celebrating Martin Luther King Jnr Day today. But things got away from me, so it is a little tardy.
