People send me information routinely on their visits to orgs, and I happened to get several recently from people who were in LA and also at Flag. I accumulate these because individually each one is not worth a whole post, but when there are a few they tell a story. In this case, apparently the rudderless ship is all but abandoned. And it is interesting how the stories from different people in different orgs are all pretty much the same. And align so well with the information being imparted on the "Oh No Ross and Carrie" podcasts about their investigation of scientology at Los Angeles org … [Read more...]
More on Google Trends
An interested reader sent this in after the recent posting on the subject of Alexa and Google trends. I found it interesting to see the correlation between "interest" in scientology and interest in Tom Cruise. And I thank Why Bother for bringing the Google Trends data to my attention. The graph shows the US trends and the following one shows the worldwide trends: And this one is Worldwide trends: The first spike in the infamous Oprah Couch jumping followed by the "glib" Matt Lauer commentary. April 2006 Suri is born. August 2006 Paramount terminates t … [Read more...]
Scientology Ad Fail
There has been plenty of discussion about scientology's ads during the Super Bowl and Grammy's. Much of it very derisive - the twittersphere lit up with comments as soon as the ads appeared. Many of them were pretty humorous. They have run two ads -- and neither sell anything. Instead they ask a lot of questions and direct people to scientology.org website. Maybe this is modeled on the original Jeff Hawkins Dianetics "question ads" that sent Dianetics back onto the NY Times bestseller list. Back then, the success of the ads was measured by the number of books sold in bookstores (today, … [Read more...]
It’s What They Don’t Say…
This is a recent (paid for) "press release." These come out periodically as an effort to generate any sort of semi-positive media in the face of the overwhelming barrage of negative coverage that scientology continues to generate. What is amazing about this one is what it DOESN'T say. Supposedly, Scientology commissioned this religious scholar to conduct a study of scientology throughout Germany. The entire reported conclusion from this study conducted in 2013 and 2014 is precisely NOTHING. Tacked onto the end is the assertion from scientology (apparently not from the … [Read more...]
Nothing Says Chinese New Year Like….
...left-over anti-drug booklets from the church of scientology. Residual evidence that the grand plan of distributing ginormous numbers of Truth About Drugs for the Super Bowl was another Big Fail(tm). I suspect the people who gave them money for the Super Bowl distribution might be just a bit peeved... I suppose they are trying to clear some space in the SFO "ideal org" so they can fit in more copies of the "Basics," "Congresses" and "ACCs." Every org on earth has rooms full of these items when they were forced to buy them from Bridge/NEP in order to inflate the "sales figures" -- … [Read more...]
How Big Is Scientology Really?
Every now and then scientology accidentally exposes the truth about their actual size in their own words. Super Power was released in November 2013. This is after it had been promoted for 30 years. There was an enormous backlog of people who had been regged for the service over that time that were all now able to partake in the miracle. And it is a service that EVERY scientologist can do no matter where they are on the Bridge. It is something everyone is EXPECTED to do. And it can ONLY be done in one place. Flag. So the count of how many people complete it is a pretty good … [Read more...]
Super Bowl Planning
Things are not going too well with the big plans for the Super Bowl. Though there are 3 ideal orgs and another "almost" in the Bay area SFO (actually two -- Day and Fdn), Stevens Creek, Mountain View and Los Gatos; and with the "massive international expansion" scientology has been experiencing since David Miscavige took the helm, rocketed with the advent of the Golden Age of Tech, after-burnered with the Basics, shot skywards with the Golden Age of Knowledge, exploded into hyperdrive with the Golden Age of Knowledge II and Super Power and launched to the stratosphere with the Golden Age of … [Read more...]
The World’s Largest “Ideal Org”
Another bizarre cow pie just landed splat in my inbox.... And as with everything else in scientology, the goalposts area moving target. Today's news may or may not be completely at odds with what was said yesterday, but the sheeple never seem to notice. The last announcement about the world's largest ideal org was that LA Org held that distinction. Guess not. At least not for this week. So, now you know, the "world's largest ideal org on the planet" is Milano. As announced by the redundancy department of redundancy. And then the next oddity -- they're holding one HUGE showing - … [Read more...]
Super Bowl Hype Deflated
The Super Bowl - a wondrous opportunity to soak some more money out of the sheeple. Not only will they be hit up to pay for ads to appear "the greatest dissemination effort in history" - it will be epic, milestone and watershed - they are also hitting everyone up to donate for drug booklets. Those things cost about 20 cents (being VERY generous). If they gave one to EVERY person who attended (68,500 seats) they could accomplish that with $13,700. That isn't even a tiny fraction of the weekly income of the IAS. Not even 10% of the daily income of the IAS. But they are not going to PAY for it … [Read more...]
Scientology — Wrong Source
Scientologists pride themselves in proclaiming they understand how to correctly locate and assign "cause." This is a fundamental concept in both tech and admin. "Spotting correct source" and finding "real why's" and "spotting exact time, place, form and event" are catchphrases sprinkled through the scientology jargon. There are examples cited by Hubbard all over the place about "wrong-targeting" - the guy who is upset by his wife and irrationally "kicks the cat" etc etc Hubbard proclaimed the Data Series as the pinnacle of logical thought. How you identify illogical thinking and come to t … [Read more...]
