Another slip of the promo piece has revealed far more than they would want. Interestingly, Tony Ortega posted about this same promo piece this morning and with the help of Chris Shelton, approached it from a very different perspective than my take (I wrote this last week but haven't had any time to post it, but now seems most opportune). It would appear that the statements made in the wake of Going Clear by Alex Gibney have struck a nerve, especially his OpEd piece in the LA Times. David Miscavige has trotted out his second favorite scientology spokespuppet (after Karin Pouw), non-scientologist lawyer Monique Yingling. She strangely appeared to defend the non-practice of "disconnection" on Anderson Cooper, and also came to visit me one time to discuss whether I wanted to speak to my children and other family members. Just a quick post to mention a significant byproduct of Going Clear. Everyone who buys this book gets more understanding of the abuses in the scientology bubble. I would bet that Jeff Hawkins, Marc Headley, Amy Scobee and Marty Rathbun's books are all seeing a spike in sales too. Interesting, if Dianetics were selling at all it would be on this same list. As would all the other Hubbard titles. The scam of the ideal orgs rolls on... After 12 YEARS, the western US region is by far the most advanced area of scientology with respect to creating "ideal orgs." This promo piece doesn't even mention the very non-ideal, tiny and getting tinier Hawaii, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Albuquerque "orgs." Caught with his appendage in a wringer, David Miscavige has done what he has always done. Shouted "THEY'RE LIARS, THEY'RE LIARS." But this time he is truly the boy who cried wolf. He had his lawyer, Michael Hertzberg say this to the LA Times: "Please be advised that Mr. Miscavige does not know Mr. Powell, has never heard of Mr. Powell, has never met Mr. Powell, has never spoken to Mr. Powell, never hired Mr. Powell and never directed any investigations by Mr. Powell."
