The Hubbard Hall Boondoggle Rolls On

July 11, 2022 By Mike Rinder 31 Comments

The latest puffery selling the idea of constructing a completely superfluous "L. Ron Hubbard Hall" in Clearwater. I have written about this before a number of times, most recently here. But this new magazine promoting their latest adventure, taking another "Journey with Ron," highlights a whole new level of deception. The trip was to Ireland and Scotland:     I won't go into a lot of detail about Ireland. Hubbard did visit there and had an office at one point and tried to establish a "Personal Efficiency Foundation." Nothing ever came of it, and it … [Read more...]

Dublin is Not So Ideal

March 6, 2021 By Mike Rinder 45 Comments

Dublin is one of the stranger scientology orgs on earth. An enormous investment was made into this organization in a country where scientology has never been even remotely popular. There was a small, failing, bankrupt mission in Dublin. That was the extent of scientology's presence. Miscavige then bought one of the "Hubbard Offices" to try to preserve his "legacy" (and as a way of spending money for IRS purposes).  For a short while Hubbard had an office in Merrion Square in Dublin where he delivered the "Personal Efficiency" course which was supposed to be the tool that boomed scientology. … [Read more...]

Why Dublin??

September 15, 2019 By Mike Rinder 43 Comments

We keep seeing promotional pieces from Dublin "ideal org" that features people from other countries around Europe and the world. Almost every one of their "public" is NOT Irish. The absence of Irish completions in the Dublin "ideal" org is hardly surprising. Dublin only ever had a small, failing mission that was propped up by the Sea Org in order to keep its doors open. It suffered a massive blow from a legal case and the disclosure of its bankrupt condition. But why invest enormous sums in a country that could not sustain a single mission? There are a couple of possible … [Read more...]

Dublin “ideal” Org is “Clearing Europe”

August 4, 2019 By Mike Rinder 61 Comments

These guys are thinking big... At least 10X expansion across their zone (whatever that may be). Not content with merely Clearing Ireland, they are taking on the whole Continent. Why someone from Sweden would be in Dublin is anyone's guess -- there IS an ideal org in Malmo. And in Copenhagen. Amsterdam. Brussels. A couple in England. And a few in Germany, Switzerland and Italy that are all closer. Unless they just can't find anyone in Ireland who wants to go Clear so that have to reach outside their island and try to persuade a bunch of foreigners to make the trip? But what is most … [Read more...]

Ireland — Seriously?

August 28, 2017 By Mike Rinder 142 Comments

For the latest proof that the "ideal org" strategy has NOTHING to do with "clearing the planet" but is simply a real estate, money making scheme and PR campaign for internal scientologists, look no further than the "ideal org" of Ireland. Here is a new pitch they sent out which I have highlighted to note some significant points. First thing to note: this "org" is being sponsored by the IAS -- they must need to invest in some more real estate to satisfy IRS requirements. But that "sponsorship" is ONLY to buy the building and renovate it. NOT to "set up" the "ideal org" because this … [Read more...]

Ireland — Miscavige’s Lies Just Won’t Go Away

April 3, 2014 By Mike Rinder 30 Comments

Some recent media from Ireland. Still reaping the rewards of making up stories to tell the faithful about how wonderful things are "over there" (everywhere except where you are).... I bet Dear Leader just loves having his photo in articles like this all over the world. And particularly enjoys being identified as worldwide leader of a cult. Not exactly the positioning he is shooting for. He's got "Pope" in HIS mind, not David Koresh. Perhaps you should stop telling lies Dave? Nobody is going to bother with stories like this if you don't give them something to write about.   If you have … [Read more...]

Irish Persistence And Miscavige Tin Ears

January 22, 2014 By Mike Rinder 64 Comments

Thanks so much to the temporary moderator who seems to have gone above and beyond the call of duty to keep things moving along in my absence. We had a wonderful vacation with the Headley clan and also got to see some old friends in Denver, including one VERY long time friend from Gold who I had not seen since I left in 2007.   I may be posting something here that is already known, I really wasn't able to keep up with everything.  But someone sent me an email last evening enclosing this article which I found interesting. Not really a new story, but just further proof of the absolute tin ears … [Read more...]

Scientology in Northern Ireland

January 17, 2014 By Mike Rinder 80 Comments

Following the recent post about Dublin and Scientology's fictitious activites there, here is more news about the imaginary activities of Scientology in Ireland, this time from across the border. One of our eagle-eyed readers sent me a note about the "Mission" in Belfast. They report that the Mission has been "closed for ages" even though it still appears on the official Scientology website. No doubt this is one of the Missions they count in the 11,000 total orgs, missions and groups.  And no doubt Northern Ireland is one of the countries they count in the "186 around the world."  It's … [Read more...]

How Many Taxpayer-subsidized Mansions, Homes and Offices Does a Dead Man Need? It turns out to be a LOT when it comes to #scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. Once again, where is the #IRS? How is this a valid exempt purpose? https://youtu.be/JfmJHiGfevA via @YouTube
