“Successful Selling” by L. Ron Hubbard

December 17, 2022 By Mike Rinder 32 Comments

Hubbard had a lot of his special wisdom to impart about the skills of selling. Scientology objects to the idea that it should be characterized as a business. Not because they are not proud of Hubbard's "administrative technology" which is the ONLY way for any business to succeed (somehow Amazon, Apple and Walmart have muddle their way to success), but because being a business is not compatible with being "religious" and thus the label threatens their tax exempt status. Scientology "administrative technology" is full of Hubbard talking about "prospects," "sales," "commissions" and … [Read more...]

Scientology Healing

September 5, 2020 By Mike Rinder 67 Comments

Came across this the other day, right from the desk of L. Ron Hubbard. It offers some fascinating insight into how he believed scientology could be sold to cure literally everything, and how to avoid running afoul of the law. The "nod, nod, wink, wink" is thinly disguised and his disdain for government and medical authorities is palpable. It is interesting that this is written in 1962 and, like he had done since 1950, he claimed "we can clear" (until next month or year when he would announce the NEXT "breakthrough" that "now" made clearing possible) and that "of course, Clearing resolves … [Read more...]

Cause Over Life Demonstration

June 25, 2016 By Mike Rinder 69 Comments

Here is a perfect example of scientologist cause and confront from a posterchild for OTishness, our old friend Barbara Dews. A Special Correspondent sent me this email exchange and if you read down the thread (earliest at the top) you will see BD going from a shark smelling fresh blood, to a somewhat concerned deer caught in the headlights to a rabbit that scurried down her hole in abject terror. This is cause over life. This is how to confront and shatter suppression. This is how to be OT so you can go OT. Barbara epitomizes fundamentalist scientology. So dead certain that she knows … [Read more...]

How To Sell Dianetics

December 23, 2014 By Mike Rinder 81 Comments

Someone recently sent me this write up giving the details on how to try to sell Dianetics on the street. It including reference to the "No answer" drill from STCC (Success Through Communication Course). Of course, there is little in scientology that is straightforward when it comes to trying to interest new people. In today's Google world, it's virtually impossible. But this is all taken from references that predate the birth of the internet, it has always been this way in "disseminating." As this drill is something that has been discussed quite a lot (it being the "acceptable" version … [Read more...]

Sea Org Recruiters – The Ultimate Merchants of Chaos

March 9, 2014 By Mike Rinder 138 Comments

This article was written by Special Correspondent Chris Shelton. It was one of those rare things in the world of Scientology -- something that actually surprised me that I knew nothing about. I thought this sort of doomsday talk was the exclusive province of regges, but had not considered (silly me) that Sea Org recruiters were really regges just like the IAS and all the other vultures that have ascended to the top of the RCS hierarchy. I believe this is important information to be made known. I am not commenting on the 3 minute, poorly attended massive ribbon-fest as there isnt … [Read more...]

Dennis Nobbe Still Has Money

October 17, 2013 By Mike Rinder 93 Comments

OK, someone screwed up.  They sent out an email with a bunch of earlier emails attached. Including travel itineraries and internal emails that presumably were not intended for public consumption, let alone showing up on a blog on the very outer fringes of the internet.... To remind you who Dennis Nobbe is, see the story here at Tony Ortega's blog. In very abbreviated terms, the US Equal Opportunity Employment Commission (EEOC) took the unusual step of suing him for forcing people to take Scientology courses as part of his dental practice.  Michael Chan is a professional FSM who has … [Read more...]

Jennifer Charm-Jacobsen Lacks Charm

October 15, 2013 By Mike Rinder 106 Comments

Another one of those "unauthorized" emails. I guess the message didn't get out internally. This woman is misnamed. She is about as charming as a scorpion with 6 broken legs. Wouldn't want to run into her in a dark alley on a rainy night. There is some serious make-wrong happening here, and she is not in the least bit apologetic about it either.  It gives you some idea of the heat these people are under. And the contempt they have for "the field." And the ingrained attitude of "you OWE us your support." And finally, all the way down the org board, it once again reinforces the main line … [Read more...]

Stop The Presses. BIG News from The IAS

October 1, 2013 By Mike Rinder 71 Comments

The IAS got someONE through "the online courses". Now you can all rest well at night knowing just how effectively they are using your money.  Who dares say we don't have unprecedented, straight up and vertical international expansion? What about this! And in Romania no less. This is truly monumental and the right order of magnitude. A new civilization is on its way. Clearing the planet is a reality. The dawn of a golden age is upon us. We have the future of this planet in our hands.  Woohoo, we're having a party tonight. After 10 years of these damned tents we finally have something to crow … [Read more...]

More Scientology Fail

September 28, 2013 By Mike Rinder 82 Comments

After more than THIRTY YEARS, they STILL aren't close to their target of 10,000 onto (or through) OT VII. And believe me, this "6300" INCLUDES anyone on or through OT VII that is READING THIS BLOG. Also everyone who has dropped their body. Or who is a "Black Tag" (ie "off the level"). This 6300 also includes all Sea Org members who have made it through OT VI by some miracle (though in 30 years, if anyone cared, every SO member on earth could have been gotten up to OT VII and according to the PR statements of the church there are more than 5000 Sea Org members).  Of course, nobody in the … [Read more...]

Scientology Library Fail

September 28, 2013 By Mike Rinder 44 Comments

This is a companion to the post I did last week with reports from around the world about the state of local orgs and missions. What came in concerning the infamous "Scientology Library Donation Campaign" tells the story, just like the Ideal Org "strategy." of another massive fail that has been used to fleece millions from gullible public. Here is proof that those who gave their money to place LRH books in libraries were scammed.  Of course, the first indicator that this has little to do with getting books into libraries and everything to do with making money is the fact that these "library … [Read more...]
