For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving today, I wish you all a wonderful time with family and friends. We all have much to be thankful for. Good friends (whether family or not) who stand by and support you through thick and thin, friends who would never let someone else destroy the relationship they have with you are perhaps the most valuable thing anyone has -- apart from good health. Cherish and be thankful for them today. And also spend a moment to remember those who have had their families torn apart and rededicate yourself to doing what you can to help bring such barbarity to an … [Read more...]
Michael Silverman
Michael Silverman was a much beloved figure at AOLA for many years spanning the 70's, 80's and into the 90's. This is the only photo I could coax out of him, but for those who knew him back then, apart from being follicle challenged, this smiling face looks just the same as I remember it at AO. Michael reached out to me and asked that I publish his thoughts about his life in the Sea Org and scientology. I am more than happy to do so. Hello Mike. I have occasionally read bits of postings over the years and feel compelled to post something significant that may help others bo … [Read more...]
Mat Pesch Responds to Scientology’s Smears
Frankly, anyone who has watched Mat speak on The Aftermath has no doubt that he is a straight-shooter and an all-around stand up guy. Nobody believes the tripe scientology says about him, not even the people that wrote it. But they think they might be able to convince some of their KoolAid drinkers it's true, maybe. I feel Mat (and anyone else who has appeared on the show) should have a forum here to respond to scientology if they wish, though I am pretty sure it's not necessary. But on the other hand, sometimes it is cathartic to just get it out of your system, put it on paper, and have it … [Read more...]
Danger Lurks in Tax Bill
This is an editorial in the Washington Post. Whether you are liberal or conservative -- this should be of concern to you. If you are a Republican and supporter of President Trump, set aside your distaste of the liberal media and absorb the information contained within this editorial. It is important. It is not fake news. From a purely tunnel-vision perspective, I do not want scientology gaining the ability to influence and buy politicians like they can buy lawyers and private investigators. The possibility of removing existing restrictions on politicking by religious organizations makes … [Read more...]
More on Past Lives: Real or Imagined?
It's SaTerraDay! More on Past Lives: Real or Imagined? One of the most vexing questions for me when I was in Scientology was whether past lives were real or imagined. Before I ever went in session for the first time, past lives had been solely a component of fantasy novels. In fact, until I routed onto the OT Levels, I avoided going “beyond this lifetime” whenever I could. I was always reluctant to declare I’d lived before this life, and for as long as I could, I limited myself to looking at incidents I knew had happened since that birth date on my driver’s license. Images earlier than birth … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
An easy one to start... Why are you here? To give you money... which is the only purpose in the universe. He really gets around... This fundraising business must be paying off. Melbourne Australia on Tuesday, Pasadena on Thursday. Yowza. That's a strange "block" It's actually the scientology PR building And then they were one... Every item on this NOI "convention" is scientology. Pot luck Thanksgiving? Most churches provide Thanksgiving dinner. This "ideal" org can't even … [Read more...]
Harvey Weinstein & Scientology – Separated at Birth?
This New Yorker article is an extremely detailed and well-documented peek behind the curtain of a dirtbag with a lot of money hiring big-name, reputable lawyers and private investigators to conduct a concerted campaign to intimidate and silence victims of and witnesses to his abuse. Scientology has been doing this for years. Decades actually. They wrote the book, literally, on this sort of intimidation tactics. Everyone else is a pretender to the throne of corrupt power abusing the less powerful with impunity. The big difference between Harvey Weinstein and scientology is the money s … [Read more...]
LRH, Scientology, and God
It's SatTerraDay LRH, Scientology, and God It’s Sunday morning. The sun is shining brightly. I’m writing in a coffee shop with the person I love the most in the whole wide world: my spouse. God is good. Or...at least life is. I was raised an atheist. Despite three-plus decades in Scientology, I’m pretty sure I still am. And you know what? I think LRH was too. I never attended a place of worship while growing up. No churches, no synagogues, no mosques. Like Karl, “religion was the opiate of the people,” in my household. God was a crutch in the minds of the weak. If a young LRH got dra … [Read more...]
Promotion in Scientology, “Outflow Equals Inflow”
It's SaTerraDay again. Promotion in Scientology, “Outflow Equals Inflow” One of the pillars of “stable data” drilled into every Scientology staff member is: Outflow equals inflow. Leave it to the church to completely misinterpret and misapply this simple phrase. Terra Math First off, outflow does not equal inflow. Outflow equals outflow, and inflow equals inflow. The two aren’t identical. We might say, the former leads to the latter. Or that intelligent outflow of energy and production by individuals may result in a similar volume of inflow. But not necessarily; lots of factors … [Read more...]
Education, Memory, Grains of Sand, and Scientology
It's SaTerraday. Education, Memory, Grains of Sand, and Scientology How we learn doesn’t jive with LRH’s paradigm of the human mind. Since Ron was so “stats-oriented,” let’s start with the numbers. He said we’ve all lived for quadrillions of years. By multiplying this number times all the pictures in all our memories over this period, we come up with an amount greater than the number of grains of sand on Earth. Whoa. Terra Math One quadrillion (ten to the fifteenth power, 10^15, or 1,000,000,000,000,000) times (x) one trillion memories per lifetime (completely arbitrary figure) … [Read more...]
