Thursday Funnies

December 2, 2021 By Mike Rinder 42 Comments

Reign? What a strange choice for a quote... certainly had nothing to do with Thanksgiving. Operating on that old scientology adage: If Ron said it, it must be good/true/appropriate....   Experts on Stress Relief The Jive Asses? These two pics really go together well don't you think?   It's a Mega Event! VERY special guest "Captain" Mike Spurgeon. He's been there forever captaining Canada and has accomplished absolutely nothing. Not even Toronto ideal and they didn't need to buy a building! They probably forgot about him. But when he starts promoting … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies

November 11, 2021 By Mike Rinder 23 Comments

Lots of found parking spaces and caught the green light... There's been a pretty big devaluation of "OT phenomena"   AOLA could use some of this... Wonder why these guys who are so good aren't 10X the success of the orgs?   Instead of being on course? Oh my....   Unites? This is the big IAS event this year? Wow   The First Ideal Continent... Just Canberra, Adelaide and Brisbane to go for an ideal "Continent" -- but not a single org in India, China, Indonesia etc. Seems just a little bit of a hollow … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies

Flourish and Prosper? Andres Rodriguez has been in the Sea Org forever. What does he know about flourishing and prospering?    It's time for spiritual freedom... And they have a "completion" -- though not an OT level. No doubt she got a bunch of sec checking.   The Chan Man is Back.... Not sure he ever went anywhere. You gotta hear his take on "solvent particles" -- it's "Part 2." so tough if you missed part 1. Is this a Chemistry lesson? Or perhaps he is teaching people how to open a cleaning business?   The Caped Crusader Dr. … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies

October 21, 2021 By Mike Rinder 30 Comments

We have quite a selection this week! Dilettantes Get Away Does this prize include an approved CSW from the Course Supervisor and D of P to not report to the org during the trip? (Of course there is no org in St. Thomas or anywhere else in the Caribbean other than Puerto Rico... despite the Freewinds leading the charge on clearing the planet there for 25 years)   For Eternity  For anyone who doesn't know about this -- I recommend you check it out. Scientology has spent hundreds of millions of dollars of tax exempt money to preserve the scribblings of Hubbard for all … [Read more...]

How Empty is Scientology?

October 10, 2021 By Mike Rinder 97 Comments

One of our regular readers, Doug Sprinkle, was in LA last week and went for a walk around the scientology complex. Outside of Flag, this is the largest scientology operation on earth. It should be bustling with people in the middle of the day... Unlike Flag, this IS a place for new public to be sucked into scientology. While Flag is a reflection of how many people are making it UP the Bridge, LA is a reflection of both that and how many people are COMING ONTO the Bridge. Things are not looking good. We know Valley is a wasteland. Never hear anything at all from Inglewood, Pasadena or … [Read more...]

Some Funnies on Thursday

August 26, 2021 By Mike Rinder 69 Comments

Just a few of the things that have been forwarded to me recently. Some are a little old. But nothing really changes in scientology, it just gets smaller. People have been asking for Thursday Funnies to come back. It somewhat depends on what comes in. Once the pandemic hit, the volume of promotional items they sent out decreased. But it seems to be coming back now. Not sure if I will do this every Thursday, but here is an installment to satisfy the need for some humor on this topic.   "Get some of the most praised products!" Huh? And what might they be? This place is … [Read more...]

An Open Letter to Church of Scientology by Mark Fladd

December 31, 2020 By Mike Rinder 32 Comments

Mark Fladd appeared with his wife, Stephanie, on an episode of The Aftermath. They told part of their experiences with Orange County org. Good people, chewed up and spit out by the relentless money-grubbing. Of course, instead of making things right with them, scientology sought to smear them. Mark wanted to clarify some things and I am happy to have this forum available for him to do so.   Open Letter to Church of Scientology Clarifications and an update for the Public Record By Mark Fladd, ex-Scientologist | Riverside County, California | 2020   Introduction The … [Read more...]

Another Story of Financial Crime Targeting the Elderly in Scientology

May 18, 2020 By Mike Rinder 83 Comments

There have been numerous stories posted on Tony Ortega's blog of elderly people being scammed by scientology registrars (here is the most recent example). One of our commenters recently sent me this, from December 2018. It is a write up that 82 year-old Margaret Williams did to be converted into an affidavit. The commenter does not know what happened to Margaret and if she got her money back as she has not been in touch. Hopefully, she was made whole and is happily getting on with her life. If not, she should probably contact Graham Berry and ask for his help. Just another example of … [Read more...]

Michael Silverman

November 22, 2017 By Mike Rinder 251 Comments

Michael Silverman was a much beloved figure at AOLA for many years spanning the 70's, 80's and into the 90's.   This is the only photo I could coax out of him, but for those who knew him back then, apart from being follicle challenged, this smiling face looks just the same as I remember it at AO.  Michael reached out to me and asked that I publish his thoughts about his life in the Sea Org and scientology. I am more than happy to do so.   Hello Mike. I have occasionally read bits of postings over the years and feel compelled to post something significant that may help others … [Read more...]

AOLA is Circling the Drain

April 13, 2016 By Mike Rinder 177 Comments

You may have noted my mention yesterday that all the "ideal" PAC execs were replaced in one fell swoop. I guess being "ideal" doesn't mean much after all. Of course it IS the brilliant COB strategy for clearing the planet, but any way you slice it, it's a shit sandwich. The public are bled dry. It is the subject of endless filler material for events and magazines showing empty rooms of CGI "buildings." But it is especially shitty if you are an executive in one of these "ideal" orgs.  You can imagine the make-wrong "You have a $20 million building and your stats are down? What sort of thanks … [Read more...]

Watch #TheDeepEnd on Hulu. Fascinating 4 part doc study of cult leader @_tealswan by Jon Kasbe and @BitsSola. Also listen to interview by @sarahjedmondson and @nippyames on @alittlebitculty podcast. Cult leaders are all cut from the same cloth. My take: https://www.mikerindersblog.org/off-the-deep-end/

Because everyone is currently in love with Tom cruise again due to maverick and have conveniently forgotten he’s a weird little carnival barker for a dangerous cult, here’s your reminder to check out #ScientologyTheAftermath on Netflix!
