An Open Letter to Church of Scientology by Mark Fladd

December 31, 2020 By Mike Rinder 32 Comments

Mark Fladd appeared with his wife, Stephanie, on an episode of The Aftermath. They told part of their experiences with Orange County org. Good people, chewed up and spit out by the relentless money-grubbing. Of course, instead of making things right with them, scientology sought to smear them. Mark wanted to clarify some things and I am happy to have this forum available for him to do so.   Open Letter to Church of Scientology Clarifications and an update for the Public Record By Mark Fladd, ex-Scientologist | Riverside County, California | 2020   Introduction The … [Read more...]

As of today, 3 seasons of The Aftermath are now available on Netflix... Hoping this will generate a new wave of interest in ending the abuses of scientology.   … [Read more...]

SuMP Wins “Awards”

October 7, 2020 By Mike Rinder 39 Comments

The latest Emmy for The Aftermath seems to have gotten under the skin of Miscavige. His multi-million dollar media "empire" (Scientology Media Productions) has been a dismal failure. No shows worth watching. No audience. Not a single Emmy nomination for anything, let alone a win. In fact, they don't even make any Emmy ballot categories to even be considered for a nomination. So we are now seeing them hyping the "dotCOMM" awards they garnered. You are no doubt wondering what a "dotCOMM" award is. Their hype machine spit out this description. So I took a quick look at the … [Read more...]

The Aftermath Emmy Win

September 15, 2020 By Mike Rinder 58 Comments

I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone concerned for the wonderful finale episode of The Aftermath which was recognized with our second Emmy last night. We were nominated 4 times and won twice, which is a pretty remarkable record. It takes a LARGE number of people to make any TV show, it took an especially large number of people to make a complex, live audience show like that one with a subject matter that was very difficult, and particularly in light of the fact that Danny Masterson had not been charged at the time. Let me start at the top. A&E were an amazing family to be part … [Read more...]

Heber Jentzsch’s Niece Welfare Check on Her Uncle

August 3, 2020 By Mike Rinder 85 Comments

The new episode of Scientology: Fair Game Podcast is now available here. We interview one of Heber Jentzsch's nieces, Tammy Clark. Tammy reached out to me and Leah as she was concerned about Heber. Many members of the rather large family had not heard from him and she was so concerned she thought it necessary to fly from Utah to try to see him as a representative of the family. But she was fearful of scientology and asked that we help her. Leah and I were more than happy to provide her support and a camera crew from The Aftermath accompanied us. Unfortunately, this is one of the shows … [Read more...]

My Recent Chat With Dr. Susie Meister

June 17, 2020 By Mike Rinder 16 Comments

I recently spoke with my old friend Dr. Susie Meister on her Brain Candy podcast. Susie has interviewed me before and it's always enjoyable and she asks the best questions. She may not look like the stereotypical Religious Studies PhD, but she is one smart cookie. She is perhaps more well-known for her MTV reality show appearances back before she became a religious scholar, and in this case we talked a lot about "reality" TV and making The Aftermath. Interestingly, and entirely coincidentally, Susie's husband, Adam, was a Sound Engineer on The Aftermath. He is as nice and as smart as she … [Read more...]

What Happened to Ryan Prescott?

April 2, 2020 By Mike Rinder 61 Comments

Frankly, the closed orgs have dried up a lot of the material for Thursday Funnies -- endless streams of "Get your Pandemic workbook here" and "We command you to do an Extension Course" are just not very funny. We may not see much in the way of Thursday Funnies for a little while... So, I thought some clowncar material from another corner of the scientology bubble might be entertaining. This is Ryan Prescott's Facebook live post from a week or so ago. I had only ever seen his comical Tweets and some bits from his Loony-Tunes books. I had never had the misfortune of seeing him in … [Read more...]

Mark Bunker’s New Scientology Hit Squad

January 20, 2020 By Mike Rinder 51 Comments

Clearly scientology is worried that Mark Bunker is proving to be a viable candidate for the Clearwater City Council. They are now resorting to one of their tried and true tactics against those who worry them the most (see below in this blogpost for earlier examples of the same playbook). Following is a series of short videos of a recent candidates forum. Scientology sent along a gaggle of hecklers to disrupt Mark's statements -- pursuant to the policies of L. Ron Hubbard. Unfortunately, there is no video showing their faces -- perhaps next time when both Aaron Smith-Levin and I … [Read more...]

Panic Stations – STAAD Flailing Again

June 10, 2019 By Mike Rinder 81 Comments

Its pretty easy to tell what gets under the very thin skin of David Miscavige. His (violent?) outbursts of frustration are evident in the statements that emanate from the STAAD League. While Miscavige has poured tens of millions into the failed scientologyTV network and shouts loudly about winning “Telly” awards (something nobody has ever heard of and a quick glance shows they hand out hundreds of them for online ads and infomercials), he becomes apoplectic when real awards are presented to Leah Remini and The Aftermath. Funny how scientology always accuses others of doing what they … [Read more...]

Chelsea Handler Coming to Scientology HQ

March 26, 2019 By Mike Rinder 25 Comments

Chelsea Handler is coming to Clearwater as part of her comedy/book tour. I do not believe it is accidental that Clearwater is included among the list of cities she is visiting -- NY, LA, Houston, Miami, DC, Boston, Chicago, SFO, Seattle etc. All MAJOR markets and a couple of college towns (Madison WI, Durham NC) and then little old Clearwater... What could possibly be the reason? And at the Ruth Eckerd Hall, where earlier this month David Miscavige and Dan Sherman conducted the clapping seals for the annual L. Ron Hubbard Birthday Event as they have done every year since the … [Read more...]
