Leah and I are always working when it comes to advocating for victims of Scientology, whether we are vocal it about it or not. As you know Leah has focused on Shelly because she knew Shelly so well and took a stand while she was still in as well as when she got out of scientology -- including filing a missing person's report with the LAPD that they brushed under the carpet. Journalist Yashar Ali did an incredible piece of reporting on this story recently. Important: Where's Shelly? NEW Reporting And following up on this work, he has come up with more invaluable … [Read more...]
Captain Miscavige Blast from the Past
Not had a lot of time to do anything with the blog in the last few days, so this one is a bit of nostalgia for the scientology history buffs. Someone forwarded me a copy of this issue, written in 2001 by Captain David Miscavige. Oh, what drama. The hype in this issue is something to behold. "literally about the destruction of the Church as a whole," "horrifying suppression" "machine gun-toting police" "imprisonment of many Scientologists in dungeons," For the record, Spanish police raided an IAS event in 1988 where Heber Jentzsch was speaking (back then, big names in scientology … [Read more...]
Episode 8: Fair Gaming Scientology President’s ex-Wife
This week Leah and I interview Karen De la Carriere, the former wife of scientology's disappeared President, Heber Jentzsch. Karen was the highest level scientology "technical person" -- a Class XII Case Supervisor. There have been less than 50 Class XII C/Ses in the history of scientology. Perhaps no more than 10 who trained directly under L. Ron Hubbard like Karen. Karen and Heber had a child together, Alexander, who was born into the Sea Org. He was raised with my children. Karen is one of the most harrowing stories of ongoing Fair Game. Of … [Read more...]
Heber Jentzsch’s Niece Welfare Check on Her Uncle
The new episode of Scientology: Fair Game Podcast is now available here. We interview one of Heber Jentzsch's nieces, Tammy Clark. Tammy reached out to me and Leah as she was concerned about Heber. Many members of the rather large family had not heard from him and she was so concerned she thought it necessary to fly from Utah to try to see him as a representative of the family. But she was fearful of scientology and asked that we help her. Leah and I were more than happy to provide her support and a camera crew from The Aftermath accompanied us. Unfortunately, this is one of the shows … [Read more...]
Let the Scientology Fair Game Begin
I mentioned in my post on Sunday that I would let Leah respond to the latest bs about her from Ed Parkin. He should know by now not to poke the bear. Here is what Leah has to say. As only Leah can say it. Scientology uses a practice called Fair Game, these are directives and activities that seek to discredit and destroy anyone and anything Scientology considers a threat to their vile, illegal, and criminal practices. The practice of Fair Game by Scientology, its employees and parishioners is nothing new. It has gone on for decades. Here are some of the “Operations” carried ou … [Read more...]
The Aftermath — An Update
This is an attempt to quell some of the rumors and erroneous speculation swirling about The Aftermath. Though I am not in a position to know everything about decisions that are made outside my control (or Leah’s), I do have some insight – more than most who may claim to have “heard rumors,” rely on anonymous sources or merely speculate because they have a keyboard on which they can type. First, and most important for me, I want to dispel the lies that have been circulated (most likely by scientology) that episodes or the show as a whole are in peril because of Leah Remini’s dema … [Read more...]
The Legends of Our Religion
This new propaganda piece raises an important question. Where ARE those "legends of scientology"? It is true that many of the "leading lights" of scientology at the time signed this pledge. Though the real story of the IAS is a very different one than the revised history scientology tries to make it out to be. This "pledge signing" was merely a PR stunt -- the IAS had been formed by a Danish lawyer as a means of keeping money outside the purview of the IRS. It was a "bright idea" to form an "association" which was a uniquely European thing and to divert all funds from orgs outside the US … [Read more...]
More SuMP Insanity
Tony Ortega has some excellent material on his blog today about the opening of the SuMP. A few other/additional/redundant thoughts on this subject. First, one of the more insane emails ever to come my way, Pasadena org sent this out at 8 pm on Friday night to let everyone know to come to the org at 7am the following morning because "course starts at 8am" -- the most important thing about the most important event in the history of scientology, in fact the entire universe, is to keep those student points up and NOT MISS A MINUTE of your "enhancement"! Of course, the email also contains … [Read more...]
Scientology’s “President”
Though this "PR Newswire release" is in ENGLISH with a title that claims "Church President Describes Basic Beliefs..." if you read the article you will see that the "President" who is doing the describing (apparently in english?) is the "President" of the church of scientology in Madrid, Spain. Once again, it highlights the huge omission of the "President Church of Scientology International". Heber Jentzsch has been disappeared in the great tradition of oppressive dictatorships through history. He is written out of history. There is no explanation for his absence at the most important … [Read more...]
Scientology — The Art of Cognitive Dissonance
Somewhat random thoughts after returning from an out-of-town trip. Cognitive dissonance has reached an art form within the walls of the RCS bubble. Cognitive dissonance is described this way: Mental conflict that occurs when beliefs or assumptions are contradicted by new information. The concept was introduced by the psychologist Leon Festinger (1919–89) in the late 1950s. He and later researchers showed that, when confronted with challenging new information, most people seek to preserve their current understanding of the world by rejecting, explaining away, or avoiding the new information … [Read more...]
