One of our regular readers, Doug Sprinkle, was in LA last week and went for a walk around the scientology complex. Outside of Flag, this is the largest scientology operation on earth. It should be bustling with people in the middle of the day... Unlike Flag, this IS a place for new public to be sucked into scientology. While Flag is a reflection of how many people are making it UP the Bridge, LA is a reflection of both that and how many people are COMING ONTO the Bridge. Things are not looking good. We know Valley is a wasteland. Never hear anything at all from Inglewood, Pasadena or … [Read more...]
Brian Lambert on Original Thinking
Our old friend Brian Lambert sent me this essay for publication. He contributed a number of great pieces previously. ORIGINAL THINKING Original thinking is the greatest anarchy against prevailing sentiments. Being in a collective of constant self congratulating agreement may be a sign that original thinking is scarce. The original thinker always clashes with fixed ideas; including their own; especially their own. Anger and ad hominem attacks may be proof that original thinking is threatening the prevailing tides. Original thinkers welcome criticism with curiosity, not … [Read more...]
“Dr.” L. Ron Hubbard on Germs and Vaccines
Crackpot scientologist Carole Eddington sent around an email with some collected "wisdom" from "Dr." Hubbard about germs and vaccines. The guy who said not smoking enough cigarettes is the real cause of cancer, has some other interesting medical advice about how germs don't exist and that the "first 100 soldiers admitted with smallpox in WW II had all been vaccinated." It gives a pretty good glimpse into the mindset of a true-believer. To any outsider, this is just Hubbard being Hubbard: making up stories, theories and lies. Unfortunately scientologists buy it as gospel. If … [Read more...]
Become The Best
A new promo piece presents some interesting questions. Scientology is now trying to sell their ads as events that people need to see. This new 3 minute ad for training is a mixture of cartoon characters and real life actors with a twangy soundtrack. As with most of the centrally produced scientology video offerings, it has high production values. It's corny, but well produced corny. What is most interesting about it is the approach they are taking to try to persuade people to train as auditors. It is not to actually AUDIT people up the Bridge. It is to use the training to become a … [Read more...]
“Full Responsibility” a Fundamental of the Scientology Trap
Responsibility is an important topic in the world of scientology. The concept has enormous impact on the thinking of scientologists, and it is the foundation upon which much subsequent scientology belief and practice is based. Especially the very important elements of scientology that dictate YOU are responsible for anything bad that happens to you. You "pulled it in." When something goes astray in scientology, it is NEVER the fault of the organization. That is a blameless entity that can never be questioned as an extension of Hubbard himself. He was beyond fault. If the end result of your … [Read more...]
Joy Villa: Scientology Bridezilla
Aaron Smith-Levin found this FB post from Joy Villa and released it to the world. Jeffrey Augustine then put it on his blog. Both made the point that until the end of the Trump Presidency, Joy was seeking to curry favor with the MAGA crowd by proclaiming herself a Christian, and downplaying any involvement in scientology. Now that wave has passed, and she is apparently refocusing her energies to climbing the scientology social ladder again as a "born-again" true believer in the power of Source rather than Jesus. Her marriage to wealthy scientologist Thorsten von Overgaard ended … [Read more...]
It’s a Long Road to Eternity
OMG, does this put the study of scientology in perspective. Hubbard rambled on and on in books and lectures to such an extent that if you just complete one chapter of the books and lectures each week it will take 29 YEARS. And this does not factor in the 17 Tech Volumes and 11 OEC Volumes which contain about 5 times more words than all the basic books combined. It also doesn't include the LRH EDs, which are a couple more volumes about the size of an OEC or Tech volume. Now, according to Hubbard, everyone should study all of this in order to attain full spiritual freedom and secure … [Read more...]
How Many Clears are Going Up The Bridge?
It seems the Bridge is broken. This is the latest out of Europe. Between now and the end of the year, they are hoping to get 100 Clears onto their Solo levels. This is not 100 new clears made. This is just 100 people onto Solo. 4 months at 25 people per month is their target. Even this meager target is unrealistic. They will not come close to this. No scientology target is ever anything but a wishful dream ("postulate"). Remember they have been trying for 30 years to get 10,000 onto Solo NOTs cumulatively. 25 people a month in an organization that services all of … [Read more...]
Prominent Clearwater Scientologist “Pulls In” the “Chinese Virus”
Tony Ortega asked the question yesterday why scientology is not promoting the vaccine like they do masks and hand-washing? There is no definitive statement from scientology, but there are some clues in the statements of scientologists and from knowing Hubbard's worldview and thus how scientologists think. This FB post is from a very prominent scientologist and big IAS donor in Clearwater. He and his wife, Terri, were Sea Org members at ASHO before departing and becoming public whales. He is one of the owners of Nationwide Title Company (NTC) which is just a couple of minutes from where I … [Read more...]
Stupidity is Inherent in Scientology
This is a remarkable promotional item that one of our readers just sent in. Michael Lewis demonstrates his lack of judgment and intelligence right in his own promotional piece. Aren't those the two elements of stupidity? First, the image of himself he is using -- the court jester -- represents the polar opposite of "conquering stupidity." Second, he claims he got a "bombastic" response to his announcement -- like that's a good thing. Apparently he doesn't know the word means "high-sounding but with little meaning; inflated." Then he announces that some people offered to write … [Read more...]
