It's Saturday. Yay for Terra Cognita! The Scientology Committee of Evidence The Committee of Evidence—Comm Ev for short—is one of the chief instruments the Church of Scientology uses to administer justice. Over the years, this court-martial-like hearing has changed from a method of gathering facts and evidence to something more sinister. Nine times out of time, the outcome is a foregone conclusion, played out for show rather than in the interest of fairness and justice. For many church members, there is little more frightening than being called before a Committee of Evidence. As every Sci … [Read more...]
The Blame Game
Scientology plays an interesting game of taking credit for anything good AND bad in a person's life. For anything good, it's BECAUSE the person is a good scientologist "applying the tech" and for anything bad it's because the person is NOT a good scientologist and is not applying the tech and thus they are suffering their "just rewards." This "win/win" takes many forms and is a practiced art of the scientologist. If you are doing well in life and have plenty of money you are not only lauded for your "humanitarian contributions", you are expected to make sure that everyone knows it is … [Read more...]
OT VIII Success
When this is the best you have, scraping the barrel doesn't really describe it. After half a million dollars and years and years of sacrifice, the accomplishment seems to be more "I finally made it over the finish line" than anything tangible. It's all vague "I could say this, but it's not really that" and I am "naturally happy" or "I am OT"... blah blah All in all, a VERY unimpressive mandatory "success story" provided in order to be allowed to get off the Freewinds. But this is the one they chose to send out as broad promotion? Maybe they don't HAVE any others? Either way, an … [Read more...]
What Attracted Me to Scientology
Saturday is Terra Cognita day! If religion was the opiate of the people as Marx and my parents used to tell me, how in the hell did the latter’s offspring get involved in Scientology? Religion...Or Not I didn’t know Scientology was a religion until well into my HQS course (Hubbard Qualified Scientologist course). And even then, I didn’t accept that it was a bona fide religious entity but more of a new-age, self-help type of outfit. Werner Erhard and EST had set up shop locally, Moonies and Buddhists were common sights at airports, and yes, the field of psychology had become the lif … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
We havent had Thursday Funnies for a few weeks now. With a break from new Aftermath shows there are no new scientology idiotic responses to dissect. Some of these funnies are a little old, but they are still fun... Gathering of the Brave? Or at least those with 150 pounds burning a hole in their pocket. "Well-known authorities"? Do tell... Turning the tide... Really? How? The Largest Ideal Org in the US Still pushing how many empty square feet they have as the only thing they've got going for … [Read more...]
Danny Masterson Trying to Shore Up His PR
Of course, when you are being investigated for rape -- "The Los Angeles Police Department Robbery Homicide Division, Sexual Assault Section, is conducting an investigation involving the actor Danny Masterson. Three women have come forward and disclosed that they were sexually assaulted by Masterson during the early 2000's," Hollywood Reporter -- you have to do more than hire a prominent criminal defense attorney and a private investigator. You have to make it appear that you are an all around good guy who really cares about kids. So you do a round of golf. No actual work or … [Read more...]
LAPD What Are You Thinking?
Are they going to explain to everyone that the solution is to hand out Way To Happiness booklets? It's worked so well in Venezuela and other places... How about human trafficking, fraud and destroying families? Not part of the agenda? The LAPD and other organizations need to pay better attention and be more diligent about who they team up with. Of course, their argument is that they will work together with anyone who wants to improve the community, and that is understandable. What they don't realize is: a. How scientology will use them to gain legitimacy for themselves b. What … [Read more...]
Grief and Leaving Scientology
It's Saturday -- Terra Cognita is in the house! Grief and Leaving Scientology In 1969, Swiss psychiatrist, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross introduced her famous five stages of grief. Later, she expanded the model to include trauma such as the death of a loved one, major rejection, and the onset of disease. Over the years, others have modified her model. Her original five stages are: Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance Many Scientologists go through similar stages when leaving the church. Others pass through these stages once they’ve left. Denial Most e … [Read more...]
Scientology The Aftermath S2 Ep 6: the Aftermath
Tonight's episode addressed another subject we get a LOT of questions about. Celebrities and scientology. And of course with the controversy over Elisabeth Moss's Emmy win for her portrayal of the victim of an oppressive system that controls every aspect of people's lives when she is a scientologist, and then Nicole Kidman's acknowledgement of the unconditional love from her 2 daughters with Keith Urban, while not mentioning the two children she adopted with Tom Cruise, there is heightened interest in the subject. I must say, because I do not feel we were really able to communicate this … [Read more...]
The Boycott is Working!
Sometimes you really have to wonder at the intelligence of some of these bubble-dwellers. And their delusions of grandeur. Look at the crazy here. Just to be sure what she is taking credit for: Set aside her not too well thought through conclusions about deriding Trump -- this woman is on a rant about Leah winning an Emmy and THIS is why the ratings are down. Still, 11.4 million viewers is a BIG audience -- the same as last year before Trump was elected. If you wonder about the audience of NW TV these days obviously you didn't watch the show and see how many awards Hulu and … [Read more...]
