More of the recent, increasingly desperate efforts scientology is making to try to gain legitimacy. This "press release" is so lame it is laughable. Absolutely nothing happened. A choir sang some songs. No photo of the attendees, nor any indication of how many there were. The release, like those that have come before it, is written like a grade school report. But apart from cloaking itself in the mantle of religion, scientology also tries to pretend they are champions of human rights. "The Church of Scientology supports and educates others of their rights and inspires people to protect … [Read more...]
Trying to Influence Pinellas County Sheriff’s Dept
Scientology trying to inveigle itself with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department. Though they also say this fundraiser is for Winter Wonderland? It's unclear how much they plan to give to the PAL and how much to Winter Wonderland. Scientology claims they provide Winter Wonderland as a "gift" to the community. Odd that an organization that takes in $2 million a week has to nab money from the PAL to pay for their Christmas decorations... Hope the PCSD doesn't turn into the Hollywood PD who have been bought off over years with checks for their PAL. Scientology is desperately trying to … [Read more...]
Valley Interfaith Boondoggle
Valley Idle Org is trying to generate some "PR Area Control" by buddying up with some "interfaith" allies. No doubt they will talk about how they are being targeted by "bigots" conducting a "campaign" of "anti-religion haters." (For an organization that derides the concept of being a victim they sure do a pretty good imitation of playing one). I wonder if they have on their agenda the topics of "Disconnection and the destruction of families"? Or "Elderly Abuse in Scientology"? Or "How we cover up child abuse to protect the image of scientology?" The people who are attending this … [Read more...]
Personal Choice vs Scientology Policy
It's Saturday and Terra Cognita is here.... Personal Choice vs Scientology Policy The Church of Scientology has always been quick to point out that disconnection from others is a personal choice. Yes and no. It could be argued that every decision one makes while in Scientology is personal. Every course one does, every session in which one picks up the cans, and every evening when a person walks through the front doors of the org boils down to personal choice. Nobody twisted your arm while you filled out an OCA. Nobody held a gun to your head while you read DMSMH and did the Comm Course. T … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies
Animal House? Toga party. Sounds like fun. Cheap too. Net gain? If they are getting them one at a time and are so excited about it, I wonder if they are even keeping up with their attrition rate from no pay? Let alone SH Size.... Drama classes? Learn to throw a hissy fit when your prospect doesn't hand over the check? Shed tears at will for the unfair treatment in the press not covering all the good works of scientology? The Bard is back A new fresh road Pity its deserted and leads nowhere... Via … [Read more...]
Janis Gillham Grady Talks About Her New Book
I have known Janis for more than 40 years. She is someone I will always hold dear. Janis was one of my first friends on the Apollo, a fellow Australian teenager like her sister Terri, we were a small contingent. In fact, it might well have been just the 3 of us in that exclusive club. Those are the sort of relationships that never die. Janis is truly a Sea Org historian. Someone with first-hand and unique experience and a desire to record the information for everyone else to share. She graciously wrote this piece to explain a bit about her new book. I finally did it! … [Read more...]
Tales from the Apollo
Another story from the early years of the Sea Org aboard the Apollo by Gary Reisdorf. Stores Party Gone Wild - Sled breaking One of the functions of being a deckhand is when the ship was at anchor, we had the privilege of running people and goods from the shore to the ship. Boat runs are normally quite fun and took us away from our usual mundane jobs of painting that bucket of rust, sanding and varnishing the railings or re-caulking the wooden decks. We had 8 lifeboats on the ship to save the passengers and crew if the ship began to sink. The problem is, only 2 of them f … [Read more...]

Scientology Food Chain
A day later than usual, but here is the latest offering from Terra Cognita Scientology Food Chain I don’t remember where exactly, but somewhere L. Ron Hubbard talked about and created his hierarchy of churches in which new public would start their services at lower orgs and work their way up the lines, ultimately ending up on the Freewinds. He created this system because, as usual, he knew better. This design system has never worked and Scientology churches at every level have been insolvent and failing for decades. The Hierarchy At the bottom of this hierarchy, LRH created F … [Read more...]
Clearwater: The Aftermath
Leah and I wanted to clear the air about the planned episode of Aftermath focusing on Clearwater. We were very excited about shooting this as there is an amazing story to be told about the history of scientology in Clearwater, from the earliest days all the way to the present. Unfortunately, circumstances beyond our control conspired to make it impossible for Leah and me to put together the show in the way we had intended. If you know anything about us, you would know we do not like to compromise when it comes to trying to do justice to stories that need to be told. Though we were … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies
Seven Years... ...and still not SH Size. Let alone producing more Clears in their zone than triplets born on the third Friday of each month. Not really a celebration at all. Just another ploy to reg and recruit. Graduation... ...every other week?? Not enough completions to make it worthwhile to do it each week? And they need to add another floor to their building? Is this a Joke? Who is going to pay $25 to hear Joke talking about ethics and discipline? Wonder what makes Joke an expert? Record Breaking? The largest trash relief organization on … [Read more...]
Busting Open The Gates to the Bridge
Remember the hype about how the bridge would be flooded with people thanks to reaching the billions with the new KCET studio? That scientology was going to have its own, uncorrupted line to the world? And that this was all going to be happening by the summer solstice on 21 June? Well? What happened? It's a month later? Still nothing to show for it. There was even word that there was going to be a "scientology TV channel"? This white elephant cost tens of millions of dollars and is a duplicate of the tens of millions of dollars invested in the same studios at Golden Era. Now … [Read more...]
Super Powering
More interesting factoids from the mouths of babes. Today we are blessed with the magnificent news on Super Power. The Super Power building opened, and delivery of Super Power began in Nov 2013. Nearly 4 years to rack up some significant accomplishments. Remember the HEAVY demand that all scientologists had to do Super Power -- the number who have actually completed in this time is a pretty good measure of how many truly dedicated paying scientologists there are on earth. 4,000 total. They have scraped up 1,000 per year or 20 per week in the last 4 years. Recall too, this building … [Read more...]
