In one of his more famous brags about his research and discoveries, L. Ron Hubbard wrote the following in the introduction to his bizarre 1951 book History of Man. This is a cold-blooded and factual account of your last sixty trillion years. The test of any knowledge is its usefulness. Does it make one happier or more able? By it and with it, can he better achieve his goals ? This is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, the ill recover, the insane become sane and the sane become saner. By its use the thousand abilities Man has sought to recover become his once … [Read more...]
Dianetics Dissembling
This is promotion for the now completed Dianetics celebration. This used to be a big deal event in scientology. It is now a whimper that gets little attention because it interferes with Miscavige's annual scuba diving expedition on the Freewinds for "Maiden Voyage." Now, there are plenty of lies in this pitch -- one cannot attain Clear from reading Dianetics. In fact, over 60 years it has been proven the state of Clear as described in Dianetics is a pipe dream that even L. Ron Hubbard himself could not achieve. But nevertheless, they're still selling Dianetics hard as the solution … [Read more...]
Time, Place, Form and Event Part 10
The tenth installment of the first draft of a novel written by our old friend Terra Cognita. Our Sunday Serial. Terra welcomes all suggestions and feedback -- this is draft -- you can note them in the comments. Chapter 55 “You’re both here. Good,” Gardner said, grabbing one of the kitchen chairs and pulling out his little notebook. Dev and I sat on the couch. “Got any news?” I asked. “Been a bitch trying to get ahold of anyone in the church.” “That would be the Church of Scientology, right?” Dev asked. “That would be the one, yeah.” “What about Brenda or Doug down at … [Read more...]
Scientology’s “MeToo” Sick Joke
Jeffrey Augustine has been doing a wonderful job of documenting scientology's insane efforts to co-opt various women's rights' organizations and prominent figures to try to bring pressure on A&E not to pursue another season of Scientology and the Aftermath. This is Jeffrey's latest blog post: Read the entire post and his earlier coverage for the full picture. I have nothing to add to his comprehensive and detailed dissection of this sham. But I will say this. Taryn was born into the Sea Org. It is all she has ever known. She has been instilled with no other values in her … [Read more...]
Regraded Being
Thursday Funnies
Armageddon is coming... Only the true believers will be saved. I guess it's lonely then... How is "Target 2" working out for you? Because Target 1 is a big lose. Check out the "Driver License Training" First up speaker. Tough Enough? Or stupid enough? Huh? Something stinks like rotten fish. An empty org... It's the "ideal" scene. WHAT? Come for afternoon tea Stay to be regged. We have to get someone to show up to this place in the boonies somehow... I thought those … [Read more...]
What Happened to the Way to Happiness?
Before the "Colombian Miracle" where, according to scientology, distribution of The Way to Happiness reduced crime in Colombia by 90%, there was the Venezuelan Phenomenon -- the Way to Happiness literally "saved the nation." Two of the earliest IAS Freedom Medal winners were awarded their bauble for getting the WTH used by Government agencies that "saved the nation" blah blah. Then Ruddy Rodriguez and others followed, each having accomplished incredible feats of distributing TWTH to even more miraculous results. I would bet there have been more IAS medal winners from Venezuela than any other … [Read more...]
Orlando Hype
This is the headline scientology has on their website announcing the "new" org in Orlando. A STAR BURSTS IN “THE CITY BEAUTIFUL” AS A RIBBON FALLS ON THE NEW CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY Complete gibberish. And it goes on for paragraphs, starting with this: A “Magic Kingdom” of a metropolitan region where enchantment is routine, the surreal is real and stars are wished upon, the “Theme Park Capital of the World” is entirely unique. Home to wonderlands such as Walt Disney World, SeaWorld Orlando, Universal Studios and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter among many more, Orlando’s massive playgro … [Read more...]
Scientology’s Money Grabbing
This is an important survey put together by Jeffrey Augustine and first published on his blog. I am republishing it here for anyone who may have missed it there. When someone gives money to scientology, they are led to believe that should they be dissatisfied all they need to do is ask and their money will be cheerfully refunded with the only condition being that they are no longer able to participate in scientology services. Of course, those who want their money back don't really want to continue participating, so this is never a big deal when they hand over their cash. What they … [Read more...]
Time, Place, Form and Event Part 9
The ninth installment of the first draft of a novel written by our old friend Terra Cognita. Our Sunday Serial. Terra welcomes all suggestions and feedback -- this is draft -- you can note them in the comments. Chapter 49 My chocolate malt had completely melted and Detective Chip Gardner was on his second cup of coffee. Dev, Cindy, and Roxy had left a half hour earlier. “And that’s what happened,” I said. Despite all the food, my stomach felt empty. “That’s all of it?” Gardner asked. “Pretty much, yeah.” “I don’t want ‘pretty much;’ I’d like all of it. Can’t help you if I d … [Read more...]
