According to the Las Vegas "ideal" org they are "pouring on the coals" in a massive dissemination campaign to get SOURCE distributed to create "PR Area Control." What is so amazing is that the booklets they handing out are NOT "Source." Hubbard specifically stated his name was NOT to appear on WTH booklets. Nobody who reads it knows who wrote it. The Drug booklets are absolutely NOT written by Hubbard. They could hand out Source writings from Dianetics -- his thoughts on alcohol, marijuana, opium, phenobarbital and ammonium chloride. But that would be contradictory … [Read more...]
Dianetics the Modern Science of Mental Health
On this day in 1950, "Book One" was published. It seems an appropriate day to remember some of the claims Hubbard made in his lengthy explanation of his "discoveries" that had been thoroughly tested... Let's start with the most infamous: Clears of course DO get colds. They also get cancer, suffer heart attacks, strokes, pancreatitis and all sorts of other ailments. But this statement is still in the current edition of book. As for the 270 cases, this is of course also a total fabrication. Obviously. No "laboratory fact" confirms this lie because it is provably false. … [Read more...]
Correlation Without Causation
Scientology loves to claim they are responsible for "Clearing the planet" and “bettering society” -- proclaiming they are "slaying the four modern horsemen of the apocalypse, drugs, illiteracy, criminality and immorality." They routinely take credit for all sorts of things: reducing crime in Colombia by 50%, increasing literacy rates in third world countries, eradicating gang violence etc. They find a statistic and then claim “we handed out 74,000 copies of WTH and the number of divorces in Denmark is lowest in a decade. ” It is clear (in their minds) that this is incontrovertible evidence … [Read more...]
More Reefer Madness
Following yesterday's post by Terra Cognita (Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard and Reefer Madness), I thought some words direct from the horse's mouth might be of interest. It was published in Dianetics The Modern Science of Mental Health in 1950 and remains the word of God (Hubbard) to this day. The chronic alcoholic is physically and mentally ill. Dianetics can clear him or even merely release him without too much trouble for alcohol is apparently not physiological in its addictive effect. With the whole range of chemistry to choose stimulants and depressants from, why the government chooses a … [Read more...]
Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, and Reefer Madness
Our old friend Terra Cognita is back with some more thoughts... Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, and Reefer Madness LRH was hung up on dope. If drugs weren’t the scourge of his universe they were certainly a bane of his existence. LRH convinced himself and his followers that drugs were invented by evil psychiatrists quadrillions of years ago in order to control and enslave people. According to him, we’ve been popping pills since the beginning of time, and drugs are a major cause for our dullness. Ironically, he was never able to treat his own dependency and died a lonely and addicted … [Read more...]
