Thursday Funnies

May 12, 2022 By Mike Rinder 51 Comments

May 9th Reduced to a "special graduation" Back in the day it was a major event held at the Shrine Auditorium   Ideal Scenes and Ideal Orgs It's pretty ideal in the world of scientology. At least in their minds.   Well, isn't that theta He learned how to be "light and gentle" on the PTS/SP Course. Must be a different course than I ever saw.   Still Going Still a "Class VIII" Still a rimless zero     Trying a new angle for some PR points Pretty soon we will be reading that the VM's have "formed a partnership" … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies

February 3, 2022 By Mike Rinder 32 Comments

An International Top Executive Not top enough to be named... But this is going to "blow you away" Never heard that before.   Wonder what happened? The WTH "movement" in 2014 seems to have petered out   Kiddie Corner Sad   13,000 scientology staff in the world? Not a chance -- but even if there was, each one is responsible for clearing 573,709 people? You want to advertise this?     Sounds exciting Not really.   Maybe the only way... ...they can pretend they are "allied" with a legitimate … [Read more...]

The “Godfathers of Good”

July 17, 2021 By Mike Rinder 48 Comments

Ah, the humility of these gentlemen is a sight to behold. It is an unfortunate side effect of being a scientologist that you believe you know all there is to know about anything and everything as long as you have read something Hubbard said about it. This gives you the right, obligation almost, to dish out advice on all sorts of subjects simply because you are a scientologist and therefore have received the wisdom of L. Ron Hubbard. With the full certainty of a brainwashed zealot, you can pass on such wisdom to others as an "expert" no matter the topic. These 4 are experts in the subject … [Read more...]

Scientology Front Groups

July 12, 2020 By Mike Rinder 28 Comments

Scientology has many front groups that are designed to create the impression that the organization is a benevolent group that does good work in their community. I have noted many times that the "good work" does not happen if it cannot be documented by a video team who then use the video to fundraise and for propaganda pieces about the great things they are doing around the world. Here are some very recent pitches from some of their main front groups. They tell the sheeple literally anything to persuade them they need to participate — but if they don’t they are shamed into giving money. … [Read more...]

“Children’s” Dumbed Down Way to Happiness

July 7, 2020 By Mike Rinder 43 Comments

You have to wonder "Why?" The Way to Happiness is about as simplistically written as anything could be. It's been dumbed down ever dumber to attract the under 6 year olds? And it has "colorful cartoons" drawn by the same person who draws the anti-psych cartoons for CCHR it seems... So, I tried to go to the website listed on the promo piece and the address does not exist. I check on Amazon and another children's book called Making Good Choices is all that shows up: I did eventually find this version. I checked a few pages. They HAVE dumbed it down, though the concepts are … [Read more...]

Spreading the Calming Influence

May 31, 2020 By Mike Rinder 66 Comments

This is a photo taken last night of the New York "ideal org." While it is understandable in light of the nightly rioting in many US cities, including New York, it highlights a point that I often make here. Scientology routinely makes grandiose claims of their accomplishments that are disproven by the reality of the world around them. In this case, it's their own front door. They say Way to Happiness is bringing peace and calm to neighborhoods, societies and nations. You just need to get it into the hands of the people and they suddenly realize the errors of their ways and peace is … [Read more...]

Scientology in Venezuela

May 20, 2020 By Mike Rinder 65 Comments

Things are in a bad way in the 2 orgs in Venezuela (one in Valencia and one in Caracas). This is a plea from the ED of the Valencia ("Venezuela") org for assistance. It is full of typical scientology hype about how they are saving the world etc etc. and some wonderfully outdated quotes from Source to make things seem better and pretend they are winning. But harsh reality has set in. Venezuela is in economic meltdown. Hyper inflation. Lack of food. Gas shortages (remarkable in a country that exports massive amounts of oil)... She says they no longer have the resources to support … [Read more...]

“No Reging”

May 16, 2020 By Mike Rinder 75 Comments

This is a bit old. I had overlooked it and then noticed "No Reging"[sic]. This is a very interesting development. John Alex Wood is still alive and kicking? Who knew? But more importantly,  I think this is an indicator the pandemic is going to have a significant long-term effect on scientology. Not only because people are not coming in and paying for services right now and are instead hiding out at home doing a $20 Extension Course, sending in a chapter every few weeks. But because this break is changing the mindset of the sheeple. It's like someone who has had a headache every … [Read more...]

Watch #TheDeepEnd on Hulu. Fascinating 4 part doc study of cult leader @_tealswan by Jon Kasbe and @BitsSola. Also listen to interview by @sarahjedmondson and @nippyames on @alittlebitculty podcast. Cult leaders are all cut from the same cloth. My take: https://www.mikerindersblog.org/off-the-deep-end/

Because everyone is currently in love with Tom cruise again due to maverick and have conveniently forgotten he’s a weird little carnival barker for a dangerous cult, here’s your reminder to check out #ScientologyTheAftermath on Netflix!
