Episode 45: Activist and Author Dr. Brian Sheen

June 14, 2021 By Mike Rinder 34 Comments

I  Leah and I welcomed Dr. Brian Sheen onto the Fair Game Podcast this week. I have known Brian since the days of the Apollo, when he was training to be the senior Case Supervisor for the Advanced Org in the UK. He led an interesting life in the scientology world outside the Sea Org, including in a mission and as a WISE business consultant. He had an experience with Flag that ended his involvement in scientology and went on to get a PhD, but because his former wife and daughter were still in scientology, never spoke out about Scientology. The story of how he came to be declared … [Read more...]

Episode 33: Media and Political Journalist Yashar Ali

March 22, 2021 By Mike Rinder 62 Comments

We are joined this week by media and politics reporter Yashar Ali.  Yashar has done over a dozen stories related to scientology and more are coming. He has been a long-term voice against scientology abuses who has never been scared off by their Fair Game tactics. Yashar was recently named one of Time magazine's 25 most influential people on the internet: You can follow Yashar on Twitter: @Yashar,  Instagram: yasharali and Facebook: Yashar Ali With his background in politics and the media we had a lot to talk about: Scientology celebrities and how the media fails to … [Read more...]

Episode 24: Author and Icon Kate Bornstein

January 18, 2021 By Mike Rinder 49 Comments

We are very excited to welcome author, playwright, performance artist, actor and icon Kate Bornstein to the Fair Game Podcast this week. For those unfamiliar with Kate, she is a prominent figure in the Trans Community. I have known her since the early 70's when she went by the name Al Bornstein, in fact Lt. Al Bornstein, in the Sea Org on board the Apollo with L. Ron Hubbard. We talk about Kate's history in scientology, its homophobia and transphobia, how scientology attempts "pray the gay away" with auditing, Kate's disconnection, her books and a lot more. She is an … [Read more...]

The “Glory” of Scientology’s Dead “Enemies”

December 21, 2020 By Mike Rinder 36 Comments

A couple of days ago, Tony Ortega posted a lengthy "success story" from a woman who had recently completed "Super Power." Of course, it was over-the-top bizarre, but one paragraph stood out: While on the rundown two major SPs (2.5 percent) connected to my dynamics received their bitter end. One died in an unexpected way, and the other got put in a psychiatric hospital by his best friend. This filled me with the glory of justice. I doubt there is a more clear-cut example of the callous disregard for human life into which scientologists are inculcated than this. Many former scientologists, … [Read more...]

Scientology Lies About LGBTQ

December 26, 2018 By Mike Rinder 185 Comments

Someone sent this Instagram post to me recently. It is the perfect example of scientology saying one thing publicly to be “acceptable” (Hubbard called this an “acceptable truth”) and what they actually believe and practice. As you may have noticed, they also make a big deal about celebrating Christmas but do not believe in Christ. They also claim you can be a scientologist and any other religion but that is a lie that was disproven when asked about it by the IRS and admitted it was not true (it’s an indicia of a real religion that it’s a single faith - you are not both Catholic and Protestant, … [Read more...]

Scientology Homophobia

October 10, 2015 By Mike Rinder 464 Comments

Is scientology homophobic? There has been considerable discussion about this.  In today's world,  where it is no longer socially acceptable to be anti-gay, scientology has taken steps to attempt to portray itself as tolerant and welcoming of the LGBT community. But similar to scientology's claims that disconnection "doesn't exist" or is simply a "personal choice," the PR smokescreen hides an ugly and unpleasant reality. At its heart, scientology IS very homophobic. Here is the truth as I experienced it, growing up in scientology and then being a senior official in the church for many … [Read more...]
