The crazy disaster capitalism in the scientology world is a constant presence that never seems to take a break. As long as there are natural or man-made disasters in the world there is an opportunity for scientology to make some money. As I have pointed out many times before, they are not asking for money to send these out at COST, they are selling these with a large profit margin built into the price. And as I have also commented on: why isn't the IAS springing the $50,000 it would COST to do this mailing? They certainly have the money. Finally, how do they think this is going to … [Read more...]
L. Ron Hubbard and Adolf Hitler?
One of our regular contributors, Brian, provided this comment in response to the post about scientology comparing a Hollywood Reporter writer to Goebbels. I thought it deserved a wider audience. As they say, sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander.... Well now, since we are discussing people influenced by Nazis and follow his Hitler’s philosophies — I present to you.... “But the most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly and with unflagging attention. It must confine itself to a few points and repea … [Read more...]
Being Declared in Scientology… Kind Of
It's Saturday, time for some Terra Cognita... Being Declared in Scientology…Kind of “Being declared” in Scientology—short for “being declared a suppressive person,”—lets one know he or she is an evil, despicable, and degraded being, and that everyone associated with this person should disconnect from him or her immediately. LRH said an SP is someone who, many lifetimes ago, got squashed so severely that he or she took on the valence of his suppressor. He listed the characteristics of these people in HCOPL 7 August 1965, Suppressive Persons, Main Characteristics. “Nobody puts bab … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies
Somewhat abbreviated Thursday Funnies... They're Bringing In The Big Guns... Well, on second thought. Sylvia Stanard is the best they could do? Wow, they're really scraping the barrel. A total rimless zero. F/Ning as defined here means "Money to give to scientology" And Gavin Potter is an "expert" on these things because...? 35 Futile Years They are further away from clearing Orange County now than they were the first day they opened If they're so cause? How come Toronto "ideal" org STILL isnt done when they didnt even have to buy a … [Read more...]
The Aftermath Is Back
Tonight, the Aftermath is back with a new episode. I am on a short vacation with friends -- including the Headley's and Smith-Levin's and our combined 8 children (only one of whom is visible in this shot, our son Jack, but three others are taking this shot, one with camera and two holding "camera lights" directed by Marc Headley). We will all be tweeting tonight. Unfortunately, we are in the Central Time Zone so will be an hour behind the East Coast to watch it on TV but will tweet live starting at 9 EST. … [Read more...]
VMs in Puerto Rico: This Says It All
This tells you all you need to know about the largest and most effective private relief force on earth Hurricane Maria did not devastate an outer islands of the Philippines or a remote area of Guatemala. This is a US Territory that houses a soon to be "ideal" Scientology org. I take nothing away from the fact they helped clear 7 houses around the org. Every little bit of help is appreciated by those who are suffering. But the emphasis is on LITTLE. Read their report below ad you will see they have rounded up 30 people! This is likely the full contingent of 10 staff and 20 public in t … [Read more...]
Scientology: Hollywood Reporter Writer Is Like Goebbels
Apparently, Seth Abramovitch of the Hollywood Reporter has caused some serious butthurt in the scientology world. A couple of recent articles seem to have put him on the Enemies List and scientology has responded in their typically understated fashion. On one of scientology's many Facebook smear pages, they repeatedly posted this: I guess the irony of this being posted on their own Facebook hate page "Leah Remini #AfterCash" never occurred to them? They keep repeating the big lie that Aftermath is about money... It must be obvious to even THEM by now that this docuseries does not … [Read more...]
The Scientology Committee of Evidence
It's Saturday. Yay for Terra Cognita! The Scientology Committee of Evidence The Committee of Evidence—Comm Ev for short—is one of the chief instruments the Church of Scientology uses to administer justice. Over the years, this court-martial-like hearing has changed from a method of gathering facts and evidence to something more sinister. Nine times out of time, the outcome is a foregone conclusion, played out for show rather than in the interest of fairness and justice. For many church members, there is little more frightening than being called before a Committee of Evidence. As every Sci … [Read more...]
Regraded Being
RB remains on hiatus, but I pulled out one of my early favorites. Back in the days when Going Clear was first released, RB introduced a memorable character, the Going Clear elephant in the room. Priceless. You could insert his twin, the Aftermath elephant and this strip could have been written today. … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
The ChanMan Cometh Hold onto your wallets and valuables... Makes me wonder often -- don't these orgs have ANY Div 6 staff to do this? They rely entirely on full time FSM bloodsuckers? Hubbard would be rolling in his grave. Aha, found one Actual org staff out doing "seminars". Though I bet they have about as much clue as ChanMan on solving all these problems. Their "ideal" org in Florence Kentucky is empty. But shout out to them for at least trying to do something themselves. Unlike the "largest ideal org on earth." Things are thin at Flag They are … [Read more...]
WD 40?
This is pretty much a throw-away post for today. The relentless drive for "donations" gives birth to some really cray cray stuff. The opportunities for innuendo and puns are almost endless with something like this. I will leave that to the many humorous commenters that frequent this site. As I said, for personal reasons I don't have much time to devote to putting together a decent post today. Hope Tony O has something good... … [Read more...]
The Blame Game
Scientology plays an interesting game of taking credit for anything good AND bad in a person's life. For anything good, it's BECAUSE the person is a good scientologist "applying the tech" and for anything bad it's because the person is NOT a good scientologist and is not applying the tech and thus they are suffering their "just rewards." This "win/win" takes many forms and is a practiced art of the scientologist. If you are doing well in life and have plenty of money you are not only lauded for your "humanitarian contributions", you are expected to make sure that everyone knows it is … [Read more...]
OT VIII Success
When this is the best you have, scraping the barrel doesn't really describe it. After half a million dollars and years and years of sacrifice, the accomplishment seems to be more "I finally made it over the finish line" than anything tangible. It's all vague "I could say this, but it's not really that" and I am "naturally happy" or "I am OT"... blah blah All in all, a VERY unimpressive mandatory "success story" provided in order to be allowed to get off the Freewinds. But this is the one they chose to send out as broad promotion? Maybe they don't HAVE any others? Either way, an … [Read more...]
What Attracted Me to Scientology
Saturday is Terra Cognita day! If religion was the opiate of the people as Marx and my parents used to tell me, how in the hell did the latter’s offspring get involved in Scientology? Religion...Or Not I didn’t know Scientology was a religion until well into my HQS course (Hubbard Qualified Scientologist course). And even then, I didn’t accept that it was a bona fide religious entity but more of a new-age, self-help type of outfit. Werner Erhard and EST had set up shop locally, Moonies and Buddhists were common sights at airports, and yes, the field of psychology had become the lif … [Read more...]
