This is more of the scientology bubble crazy on display. They have been convinced that handing out copies of the Way to Happiness "reduces crime" and "brings calm" to neighborhoods. Why do they believe this? First is because L. Ron Hubbard proclaimed this to be the case. He determined that problems in society all stemmed from the lack of a moral code, and that by distributing HIS it spread calm and peace and bring about miraculous changes. And of course, if L. Ron Hubbard says not enough smoking is the true cause of cancer, that LSD is stored in the fatty tissues of the body or that … [Read more...]
Valentine Wisdom from L. Ron Hubbard
Some words of advice about "girls" from Mr. Hubbard -- the man who abandoned his first wife to bigamously marry his second only to then deny her existence and claim he was not the father of their daughter he kidnapped and took to Cuba, and finally to disown his third wife when she took the fall on his behalf to prevent him going to prison. Yep, with that stellar record, he qualifies to offer some sage words. And what is even more remarkable -- the scientologists think this is worthy of sending around to everyone because it is so brilliant (every word uttered by Hubbard is genius in their … [Read more...]
Scientology Dating
It seems there is an increased interest in date locating :) in the shrinking world of scientology. Perhaps they are running out of prospects... These two emails were forwarded to me recently, both pitching "scientology" dating sites/services. On the eve of Valentine's Day they seem oddly apropos. Apparently, they have managed to scrape together 200 members (another interesting measure of the real size of scientology). And here is the second: Interesting, if you look up this site, their main claim to fame is that they have handed out 27,000 copies of the Way to … [Read more...]
Ideal Missions – Ocala Fail
Scientology are exposing themselves again. Years ago, the Ocala Mission was opened with great fanfare as the first "Ideal" mission. It has been promoted this way since. I visited this Mission some time after it was declared ideal and the Hungarian receptionist was unable to help me when I asked some questions about Dianetics and told me to come back on Tuesday evening (it was a Saturday afternoon as I recall) when the Mission ED would be there and that he could help. There wasn't anyone else in the place. Now this: They don't have the staff to be "ideal" -- apparently they don't … [Read more...]
Flag OTC Minutes
Some epic news hot off the press from the mighty Flag OT Committee... Fundraising, fundraising and more fundraising. Orlando NOW has 35 staff. Wow! And they are "doing very well on recruiting." Once again, scientology discloses the fact they are spending tens of millions of dollars for a building for people that do not exist. 35 staff (and you can bet this figure is bs as EVERY figure ever presented by scientology is ALWAYS bs) is supposed to be the size of a Mission. They have another 165 staff to go to be SH size and a real "ideal org." They're not even 20% of the way … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
The endless pitch... It's always about to happen. Donors of a New Eternity? What happened to the old eternity? Did you know? This "expedition" was a total catastrophic bust. But that doesn't match the scientology version in which everything Hubbard ever did was amazing... Missed a few... Poor. Overworked. Tired. Ethics trouble. Not clear. Exclusive (?) Briefing Why? The "latest news" is deja vu all over again. It's "coming".... Poor suckers Every "ideal org" that struggled to raise their last dollars, and … [Read more...]
The Ultimate Sleazy Fundraiser
Anything is good reason to hand over your cash in the world of scientology... A disaster. A new building. Ron's birthday. Your birthday. The end of the year. Thursday at 2. The Super Bowl... But this one, from Mr. CCHR himself, the Financial Investment Advisor, Author, IAS Freedom Medal Winner, Keynote Speaker, IAS Reg and all around homo novis, is over the top even by scientology standards: Bruce Wiseman is pitching people to give $20 a month for the "majestic" commercials (this last one was anything BUT majestic -- confusing drivel more like, with a condescending "we thought so" … [Read more...]
Scientology Tax Exemption — Muffins Strikes Back
Clearly, David Miscavige is feeling the mounting pressure on his most cherished treasure: tax exempt status bestowed on scientology by the IRS in 1993. It takes considerable effort to get a letter published about a relatively obscure subject in a major paper like the LA Times. It is apparently a response to an op-ed piece that ran last November. 3 months of work to get this miserable piece of misleading propaganda to run... Monique "Muffins" Yingling makes a rare appearance to argue on behalf of Miscavige. She has been as out of sight as the COB himself since her fateful appearance on 20/20 … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies on Sunday
Due to a brain fart, I messed up the days of the week. As promised, here are the Funnies today... It only takes a day? Wow, there are some others orgs that would like to know how you plan to pull this off... Rapper and Humanitarian... What a combo. But they forgot his number one profession. Registrar trying to get commissions. That's an awful lot of Muhammads... And look at those guest speakers -- it tells you everything you need to know. This isn't going to be about spiritual enlightenment. It's going to only be about lightening your … [Read more...]
The Shrinking World of Scientology
It is hard to imagine 10 or 20 years ago that the March 13th event in LA would NOT be held in the Shrine Auditorium. It was one of the BIG events that was always held in a big venue. Back in the day, there were also big events for Auditor's Day and May 9th held at the Shrine Auditorium. The Auditor's Day event was first to go. It was too close to the IAS event and too soon after the Maiden Voyage -- AND it was not a big money-maker and celebrating auditors was not high on Miscavige's priority list. First Dear Leader stopped attending, then it became a "local" event (ie no central … [Read more...]
