On this day in 1950, "Book One" was published. It seems an appropriate day to remember some of the claims Hubbard made in his lengthy explanation of his "discoveries" that had been thoroughly tested... Let's start with the most infamous: Clears of course DO get colds. They also get cancer, suffer heart attacks, strokes, pancreatitis and all sorts of other ailments. But this statement is still in the current edition of book. As for the 270 cases, this is of course also a total fabrication. Obviously. No "laboratory fact" confirms this lie because it is provably false. … [Read more...]
Through the Bubble – Lili’s Adventures in Scientologyland Part 13
This is the thirteenth installment of the account of a journey into and out of scientology -- written by one of our long-term readers. I hope you enjoy her insights, humor and style. Lili also provided a glossary of terms. Through the Bubble - Lili’s Adventures in Scientologyland This is my quirky recollection of events. Others may remember things differently. Lingo is italicized on the first mention, capitalized after that. I’ve compressed complexities in the cult to simplify your reading pleasure. Part 13 The Church of Scientology, An Applied Religious Philosophy, … [Read more...]
A Letter from “Ron”
Back in the days when Ron was still occupying his meat body, he encouraged people to write to him. He proclaimed many times -- "all mail addressed to me shall be received by me." This was what he called the "SO #1 Line." Here is just one example of him pitching this: Even as late as 1982, when he was in hiding, he was still pushing this, and making a point that some SP ("now blown") had implied he was not seeing the letters sent to him. "I almost wept." This is all bs. He never read or answered these letters. In fact, he said the REAL reason for the "SO #1" line is a … [Read more...]

Elisabeth Moss: Scientology PR 101
The recent New Yorker article piece by Michael Shulman has resulted in a ton of media pickups, mostly focused on her responses to questions about scientology. There have been a number of takes on this of interest: Martha Ross wrote an excellent piece in the SJ Mercury News Martha quotes journalist Yashar Ali who tweeted: And Tony Ortega added some thoughts from Geoff Levin who was extensively interviewed for the story, but little of it made it into print: Now, let me add some of my thoughts, as it was my job back in the day to … [Read more...]
Blowing More Smoke Captain Miscavige’s Way
I recently posted about the sycophants gushing over Captain Miscavige. Here is another one. In celebration of his birthday on Saturday, the brown-nosers at the Stand League sent out this tweet (not a word these days from Fast Eddie Parkin -- he was so righteously right, but I guess not good enough in the end and now scrubbing dumpsters somewhere): Obviously, as the celebrations for Ron's Birthday are on the decline in terms of importance and attendance, Captain Dave is taking Source's place. The official propaganda organ of scientology is tweeting out about how it's a "privilege" to … [Read more...]
Scientology: Government Against The Ungovernable
Two Castle Rock, Colorado High School students, Sally and Madelyn, made a short film about scientology. They entered it in a local competition and won first place in their category! They were required to submit a paper, describing their planned film and why it addressed a worthy topic before they began. You can read their submission here: Context Essay This is their description of their documentary: "Our submission was for the 2022 National History day senior division documentary category! The theme this year is debate and diplomacy, we chose to represent this with the conflict seen … [Read more...]

Premature Ejaculation in Clearwater
I included an item in last week's Thursday Funnies about a new "hang out" coming to Clearwater. I am not sure who had put this on Facebook as the posting was forwarded to me and I have no way of tracing it back... It certainly made it sound as if the Prelude Coffee and Tea bar was a happening thing. The excitement was barely contained in the posting. This is the thing everyone has been wiating for in downtown Cleqarwater, finally being made a reality... Not so fast. Here is what this property actually looks like -- photos taken Friday: Apparently the idea of … [Read more...]
