Our friend Mark Bunker is in the news again. But this time it isn’t about what scientology is doing to Fair Game him. Some of you may have seen the announcement that Wise Beard Man intends to run for a seat on the Clearwater City Commission. It was reported in the Tampa Bay Times yesterday. Clearwater, Bunker said, has “got a unique problem here in Scientology. And I think the city ought to balance it out with a unique council member who understands Scientology.” Mark has a long history in Clearwater and with scientology. We discussed some of this in 2 episodes of Scie … [Read more...]
The “Top” of the Bridge is Collapsing
The "Mecca of Technical Perfection" (they don't seem to use that name any more, even though it was bestowed by L. Ron Hubbard himself) is becoming more and more desperate. Yesterday I included information about the shrinking world of scientology evidenced by the curtailed Maiden Voyage celebrations. Today we have more evidence from the "top of the Bridge" where they are now delivering the "Personal Efficiency Course"... This is described at the What is Scientology website as follows (emphasis mine): For many people, happiness is an elusive quality. Surveys show that “being happy” is w … [Read more...]
Maiden Voyage Shrinkage
There is a lot of shrinkage in scientology these days, and now Maiden Voyage is added to the list. (Yes I know the graph is meaningless, it’s how scientology always presents their “expansion” so it seemed appropriate...) For decades there have been 5 main events and a Seminar for every Maiden Voyage: "Opening Night" -- a summary of the "accomplishments" of the "OT Ambassadors" "Org Night" -- an update on Ideal Orgs "Source Night" -- the Sherminator with a veritable avalanche of hagiographic mumblings "Special Night" -- either something from Author Services or CST or WISE … [Read more...]
Scientology “Father’s Day”
Scientology likes to portray itself as family friendly. This is never really true in scientology -- the organization ALWAYS takes precedence over the individual or family. Always. Scientology tries to tell the world that it is the great protector and builder of family relationships. Just look at these excerpts from scientology.org: But let's just focus on how this works out for scientology staff, SO Members or declared SP's. Scientology is decidedly NOT family friendly and Father’s Day is simply another “reason” to try to get suckers to visit the org so the regges can try to get their m … [Read more...]
Scientology Still on My Mind
Our old friend Terra Cognita is back with more insight. Sadly, I imagine many readers here can relate to these observations. I stopped writing regularly about Scientology after I’d said everything I thought I needed to say. I’d climbed out of the rabbit hole. Exorcised my demons. Laughed at the hypocrisy. And finally capped my pen when I felt it was time to move on. And yet, I still think about Scientology. Not as frequently as during the first couple of years after I’d left, but I still have occasional conversations in my mind with those I left behind—with those still trapped inside the b … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
A celebration of the new "ideal org" By selling another edition of DMSMH? With an image of a fountain on the back! Same old same old... They still have the same photos of the same people from 3 YEARS ago Puerto Rico is going ideal too Bet these people didnt even know they were going to be promoted as a scientology "win" $20 for an "ethics workshop" to get you into power To "benefit" the "ideal mission" of the Foothills, a place so NOT in power it isnt funny? So how are they putting on this seminar? Or more to the point why would … [Read more...]
No Irony Here
Take Scientology's advice -- watch The Aftermath and see what is REALLY going on in scientology. Don’t listen to the propaganda spewed by scientology in the media or on their websites. Watch those who personally experienced scientology up close and personal. It is so appropriate they say this because it captures exactly what has happened to scientology — their PR has taken a fatal hit they will never recover from because people have been able to see the truth. Such irony, but lacking any ability to introspect or confront the reality before their very eyes, they continue to m … [Read more...]
LRH Wisdom
Sometimes it is instructive to take these quotes at face value. Scientologists do. In fact they are required to do so. They even take them and regurgitate them as pearls of wisdom but apparently never stop to think about what they mean when applied to Hubbard or Scientology. This is a classic example. Hubbard himself couldn’t confront psychiatry? Governments? Marriage? He managed to be at shivering effect of all of these subjects and much more. Even BT’s. Yet in the eyes of scientologists he was perfect. A virtual God with enormous OT powers. Reality is that he died of normal phys … [Read more...]
The Upside Down World of Scientology
This is a microcosm of so many things inside the shrinking bubble world of scientology. Selling guy is trying to offload his “OT” bracelet (at a loss of course, anything scientology is ALWAYS overpriced) to get money to do the Purif. Probably REDO the Purif. After all he was "going OT" or was already OT back in 2012. But then of course, the first time he did the Purif it was "out tech." I wonder if the "success story" from the first, second and third Purif he did was real? Did he actually have the gains he attested to? If he did, why redo it? Simply because it is a way of soaking money … [Read more...]
Scientology Celeb Tag Team – Friendship in Scientology
Our old friend Terra Cognita has returned with another thought-provoking commentary. Scientology Celeb Tag Team – Friendship in Scientology Our good friends the Johnson’s (not their real names) show me an example I’ll never forget of more bright ideas in the church. Many years ago Lallie Johnson went to Flag. She said to me before she went, she was afraid that her tiny inheritance from her mom would vaporize. She was worried and looking to me to buck her up. I wondered how to help her and not get written up. I told her, “you’re not required to tell them that you got an inherit … [Read more...]
