Crazy “Source” Quotes
Scientologists love to quote L. Ron Hubbard (or “Source” as he liked to be referred to) for literally everything. If Source pronounced it, then it is holy truth. If he said he had visited Heaven or Mars or psychs came from an evil planet called Farsec or you wash windows with newspaper -- these things were literally true. See the excellent piece at Tony Ortega’s blog this morning concerning L. Ron Hubbard’s stolen valor. I was sent a couple of promotional items from this year that have a different focus. The big push is on for an "Ideal California" -- as if this is going to change anything... The fundraising promotional pieces are coming hard and fast. Below are just a few from the last week. What is so incredible is that these people think that the last ideal org in California is going to make any difference to anything or anyone. Think about it. It's an "ideal island"... Like they now have an "ideal Florida" with 3, yes, 3 ideal orgs in a state with more than 20 million residents. Just think, they will have ONE org for an island with a population of 3.6 million. Actually, that should really be ideal -- 99.9% of the population will never come in contact with scientology. Scientology's newest billboard in Clearwater is an obvious admission of something everyone knows -- but scientology almost never acknowledges -- their reputation is horrendous. This is clearly a reaction to The Aftermath tv series and the enormous volume of media coverage over the last few years. Here we have a couple of recent promotional pieces pushing the "religious angle" of scientology. Though I must say, this one above looks more like a screen shot from a Ricky Gervais mockumentary. After the last post Child Sexual Abuse in Scientology it is ironic that the next day I came across this piece of PR spin. This is the other side of the scientology equation. On one hand, they groom people to be victims of sex abuse and seek to cover it up when it happens.
