Scientology’s Disdain for Law Enforcement

March 15, 2023 By Mike Rinder 5 Comments

This is an earlier post I am updating, along with a new YouTube video today. In the wake of the Danny Masterson rape trial (soon to be retried after the jury ended up hung), many are curious about scientology's position with respect to reporting crimes to law enforcement. Scientology responded to reports they forbid this in typical fashion -- quoting the LA Times: The Church of Scientology declined to comment on the pending criminal matter, but said the religion has no policy against reporting crimes committed by Scientologists to law enforcement. “Church policy explicitly demands … [Read more...]

The Black Bag Department

March 13, 2023 By Mike Rinder 3 Comments

Reposting earlier posts during my vacation. I may do a YouTube piece about this, as it fits with the general theme of scientology Fair Game and disdain for the law... I just wasn't able to get one put together before I left. Marty has been doing a good job of exposing the unalterable policies of the church concerning dealing with perceived enemies. One aspect not much discussed is who are the "outside professionals" hired to do the dirty work. And while there is a lot that is done by Sea Org OSA staff, Class V (local DSAs like Mark Warburg and John Carmichael) and public … [Read more...]

L. Ron Hubbard’s Birthday

March 13, 2023 By Mike Rinder 6 Comments

Today is L. Ron Hubbard's birthday. Born in Tilden, Nebraska on 13 March 1911, this may be the only consistently true statement he made about himself. I cannot think of a better occasion to recommend yet again, reading Russell Miller's excellent, unauthorized biography of Hubbard, Bare-Faced Messiah. Hubbard was always talking about "truth" and how important it is. His life was fictionalized by him for his own gain. Almost every aspect of it. Miller's thoroughly researched and documented account will put the lies to rest about Hubbard's life once and for all. What could be a … [Read more...]

Silicon Valley — Scientology Dead or Dying

March 12, 2023 By Mike Rinder 19 Comments

There are 3 "ideal" orgs in Silicon Valley and a Mission. The last one to open was the "Silicon Valley" ideal, nestled right alongside the freeway and virtually inaccessible. But, it was a big enough building. AND it was close to Google HQ (on the other side of the freeway).  So the grand announcements rang out that this ideal org was poised to rock the entire planet -- because of course they would be getting the brightest and wealthiest Google employees onto and up the Bridge and with that, they would be able to influence the world. How ironic that it is Google searches that are doing more … [Read more...]

Spring Break Vacation

March 11, 2023 By Mike Rinder 15 Comments

Today, we are heading off on a 7 day cruise with the Headleys and Smith-Levins. The blog will go into "vacation mode" -- there will be some new posts, and I will also republish important articles from earlier -- though not the same ones I did when we took our cruise to Alaska last year. I will still moderate comments as I can -- probably not as fast as normal. I encourage you to read the republished articles again, even if you have read them before, as they contain important information. In some cases I have updated them. And one of them has an accompanying new video on my YouTube … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies

How Times Have Changed Arte Maren, one of the original GO mouthpieces is being promoted by Flag. Hubbard would shit if he knew this -- "FSMs" being promoted by Flag, when they're supposed to be the ones promoting Flag. And a GO traitor (Hubbard painted the GO with a VERY broad brush after they got caught -- they were heros before that of course)   A seminar for celebrities and artists who aren't doing well... Jenna Elfman might be attending I heard. Bodhi is definitely in. Jim Meskimen is probably planning to go.   "Must Attend" Never been said before … [Read more...]

The Feshbach Brothers

March 8, 2023 By Mike Rinder 14 Comments

I was either unaware, or had forgotten, that there is a 4th Feshbach brother. A reader sent me a note that about this and I was surprised. The 3 (in)famous scientologists, Joe (now deceased), Matt and Kurt used to be mainstays of the scientology whale pod of wealthy contributors to all causes. They have faded into the background today. As I said, Joe passed away and his wife Cindy moved to Austin (their daughter, Jessica was Katie Holmes' handler and formerly married to Tommy Davis). Matt and Kathy came out second best in their battle with the IRS over $3.8 million in … [Read more...]

Neil Gaiman’s Scientology Suicide Story

March 7, 2023 By Mike Rinder 20 Comments

This interesting piece detailing a tumultuous period of scientology's history was sent to me by Mike Crotty, the creator of the Investigative Youtube series 'Comic's Secret History' Whether you agree with his conclusions concerning why Neil Gaiman's book frames events as it does, he has laid out the history of scientology in the UK in the mid-60's better than I have seen it done anywhere before. It was a convulsive time and led to the formation of the Sea Org when Hubbard left the UK to try his luck in reassuming his role as founder of Rhodesia, and failing at that    Neil Gaiman's … [Read more...]

US Department of Justice Scathing Takedown of Scientology

March 6, 2023 By Mike Rinder 19 Comments

This is one of the most damning documents in the history of scientology.  It summarizes the incriminating files seized in the FBI raid conducted in 1977. The raids in Washington DC and Los Angeles garnered thousands of documents which were combed through by DOJ lawyers as part of the prosecution of Mary Sue Hubbard and her top deputies in the Guardian's Office. Ultimately they pled guilty in October 1979 -- Mary Sue received a 5 year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine. L. Ron Hubbard was an unindicted co-conspirator -- he had kept his name off GO documents, and those charged fell on their … [Read more...]

Orange County “Ideal” Org

March 5, 2023 By Mike Rinder 27 Comments

I recently mentioned the Orange County "ideal" Org on one of the live Q$A's. I erroneously said it was in downtown Anaheim, it is in fact in downtown Santa Ana. A viewer reached out to provide some information about the current state of this org and what happened subsequent to the great ribbon yanking that occurred 10+ years ago (with all sorts of promises as to how this new building was going to usher in a "new era" for scientology in the area and the dawn of a new civilization in Orange County. Here is the report: As of 2 years ago, I heard that they were down to about 25 staff total … [Read more...]

The significance of the sword? Who knows. Guiding the Steady Decline of LRH PR

March 1, 2023 By Mike Rinder 21 Comments

Hey ho -- big news! The L. Ron Hubbard Public Relations Officer (wonder if any other dead people have a public relations officer?) got an award and they are spreading the good word! I looked up this organization and this award. Gotta say, for the ONLY workable "PR technology," this doesn't seem like much of a recognition. But it is the only one they've EVER gotten. Some notable points: One, the award bestowers apparently only looked at the stuff scientology sent them -- a resume that includes a LOT of generalities ("international VIPs" and "high profile professionals" … [Read more...]
