This Facebook post highlights something important about Scientology. The incomprehensible code language that scientologists speak. To a non-cult member I am sure this is virtual gibberish: 2D, postulates, flows, beingness and the whole idea of a “liability formula” and repair of past ethics are just meaningless terms and concepts. This does two things — it reinforces the “us against them” construct that is a foundation of all cults, keeping the members in the mind prison because the outside world (wogs) don’t understand them. And... It allows them to define things in their … [Read more...]
Flag is Empty
They claim it is a 4 star hotel. This is the peak season in Florida. Yet while every other hotel is charging the highest prices of the year, they are trying to attract people with special discounts -- $113 for a 4 star hotel in Florida in January? Absurd. And breakfast thrown in and chocolate covered strawberries. At this time of year you would be lucky to get into a 2 star hotel for that price. The place is empty and they are doing anything they can to get some rooms occupied. If Flag was "booming" the Ft Harrison would be full and they would not have room for locals to … [Read more...]
George White
Frequent commenter here George White sent me this photo of some of the original OT VIII's on the Freewinds in 1988. I don['t recognize many, and George doesn't recall anything other than the first names of some of them. Milt Wolfe is in the center -- he was the CO Flag Ship Service Org, though it was not an assignment that lasted long. I think that is Jane Allen in the back row. She is an IAS Freedom Medal winner who vanished from the scene after contracting cancer. Debbie Mace is standing to the left of Milt, co-founder of the infamous Mace-Kingsley enterprise, also an IAS Freedom Medal … [Read more...]
Thursday Funnies
The new look Crossed arms are so 2019. Holding an empty 3 ring binder is the new thing. Sure says "determined" to me? Here today, gone tomorrow Just look at ANY of the ideal orgs that have opened and see how many of the people they touted beforehand are there today. Most of these people will never actually start, they just agree to sign up to be left alone for a while. Big Ben! That's a lot of "secular" stuff for an organization that claims to bring more people onto the Bridge than anyone else on earth... The Year of Bahamas … [Read more...]
Happy New Year
To everyone who comes to this blog, I wish you a Happy New Year. And a Happy New Decade. There is much to be hopeful for in 2020 and the years to follow. Despite what my daughter may say, I will be busier than ever helping to expose abuses across different media platforms in the coming months and year. A legal team has assembled and fired its first shots across the bow of the pirate ship and there is a lot more to come. The media is by the day less afraid of scientology and more aware of its abuses. There is an army on social media who don't buy scientology bullshit. And most important … [Read more...]
The L. Ron Hubbard Hall Money Making Machine
Scientology is still hard at it, raising money for the completely superfluous auditorium they say they are going to construct next to the Super Power building. And they are sending out new promotional pieces about it at an increasing rate. This is a very recent fundraising letter and there is also a whole magazine devoted to the subject: This is the cover of the mag... It is a strain for them to come up with reasons why anyone should be giving money to such a boondoggle. That this is going to be an event hall "large enough to hold every international … [Read more...]
Characteristics of Mind Control Cults
Steve Hassan has recently published a new book: The Cult of Trump. I try to keep politics off this blog, and so I request the comments NOT devolve into discussions about Trump, the Democrats, Hillary Clinton or anything else political. It would be unfair to Steve to NOT credit his book, so I have done so. But I would prefer to focus on the aspects of CULT rather than the aspects of Trump. For the record, I found the book both fascinating and enlightening in his analysis of mind control, cultic leaders and how they get people to follow them, regardless of its political implications. Steve … [Read more...]
How Many Churches of Scientology Are There?
Just how many churches of scientology are there? If you ask scientology, they will never tell you. You can look up on scientology.org and count the number of listed churches of scientology -- but it's tedious and they don't make it easy. But it is around 150, the same as it has been for decades. You can also try to count the number of missions, that is even more difficult. But again, it is around 300 (and many of these are VERY part time affairs, open a day or two a week). The best they will do is offer that there are "10,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups" without … [Read more...]
Your Goals and Purposes in Scientology
One of our faithful readers sent me this promo piece with a bit of background that illustrates the inherent dishonesty that is part and parcel of being involved in trying to sell scientology... Hi Mike, Every New Year's our org would promote that they were having a New Year's Admin scale workshop. I dodged it for years and one year I found myself really in need of a new look at my business to just inspire me to start the new year. So I called the person planning and I said if I go to this thing I want to do a admin scale for my business not for the ideal org or whatever. She said oh … [Read more...]
Scientology and Christmas
It seems the media is becoming more aware of the truth about scientology. This recent article in the Kansas City Star is not the sort of "goodwill" and "PR area control" scientology was hoping to garner from opening their new "ideal org" and launching into a PR offensive for the holiday season. The title of the article alone is enough to send shivers down COB's spine: Kansas City’s Church of Scientology opens a Winter Wonderland: Is this some ploy? Ploy you ask? Ploy? You can read the full article at the link above. I have a few thoughts about it. Following the evocative h … [Read more...]
