Hubbard on Doctors — Not a Fan
L. Ron Hubbard had a disdain for doctors. He believed the medical profession was in league with psychiatry and drug companies, and they feared dianetics and scientology because it would take away their income stream. If, as he claimed, the vast majority of illness and disability was psychosomatic, then the vast majority of doctors would not be needed. I have covered some of his crazier statements about what dianetics and NOTs can cure -- from eyesight to cancer and everything in between. But I have not previously covered his disdain for doctors as a profession. There are plenty of … [Read more...]
An Ideal Org — Waste Management
The "ideal" org in Columbus is putting on a new IAS event. Remember, this is the supposed to be what a scientology organization in its ideal state is like. And this one is manned primarily by Sea Org members sent from Los Angeles. Their event features Freedom METAL Winner Bobby Wiggins -- the very tired and very lame old horse pulled out of the barn to try to earn himself some commissions. And then they pull out the big guns from the Solid Waste Authority and the Lower Otentangy River Watershed! They are going full in on the WTH precept of protecting the environment it seems. This is … [Read more...]
“Journalism and Free Speech” According to STAND
Typical of STAND League, they have a headline intended to create the impression they are fighting for human rights. But read what they say and it is clear that "free speech" only applies when the speech is something they approve of. And their "responsibility" level for truth and honesty in their "journalism" is dictated entirely by what is good for scientology. Jim Kalergis is very long-term koolaid drinker. One of the most well-known scientology FSMs and "Field Auditors" in Los Angeles. He proclaims, with the assume moral superiority so common to fundamentalist scientologists: I don’t b … [Read more...]
Through the Bubble – Lili’s Adventures in Scientologyland Part 16
This is the sixteenth installment of the account of a journey into and out of scientology -- written by one of our long-term readers. I hope you enjoy her insights, humor and style. Lili also provided a glossary of terms. Through the Bubble - Lili’s Adventures in Scientologyland This is my quirky recollection of events. Others may remember things differently. Lingo is italicized on the first mention, capitalized after that. I’ve compressed complexities in the cult to simplify your reading pleasure. Part 16 Sea Org Recruitment and Wrong Targeting A year … [Read more...]
Brian Sheen Anniversary
This is a post sent to me a couple of days ago by my old friend Brian Sheen. I was out of town and could not get it up on the blog, but the message remains the same. Today is the 45 birthday of my daughter, Springsong Tawna Sheen, now Atkinson-Baker. However, instead of celebrating the miracle of her birth, I am mourning the horror of her death. Spring has been missing from my life for 7 years now and I have not heard from her once. Legally, after 7 years, a person who disappears and is not heard from, is legally declared dead. I painstakingly have been forced to accept this reality; may she … [Read more...]

Thursday Funnies
Unforgettable Performances and Awards That will be forgotten even before the event is over.... Nothing memorable about fundraising pitches, no matter how nutty they are. Leadership and Expansion This guy obviously know all about those topics... that "ideal" org in Bogota is tearing it up. Top Celebrity Guest So big, he or she cannot be named. But what sort of "celebrity" doesn't have their name mentioned? Either someone embarrassed to be associated (so why are they doing it?) or someone who is not in fact anywhere close to a "top celebrity" and … [Read more...]
Stories About Ron — More News
Thought you might be interested to see what sort of turnout the ideal org in Melbourne mustered for Tales from the Crypt night with Wick "Stickyfingers" Allcock. According to Anita Liza, the "audience was captivated"... Anita included some shots of the crowd that assembled... Unfortunately, no shots of the great storyteller himself, but the number of attendees (and their average age) says a lot about the state of the "ideal org" in Melbourne, supposedly one of the "best" ideal orgs. You know, those orgs that immediately "10X" their "expansion" once Dear Leader hisself has yanked … [Read more...]
LA WTH
This "campaign" to stuff mailboxes in LA with copies of The Way to Happiness continues full speed ahead. The level of delusion on display here is mind-boggling. These people have been convinced to believe, in violation of everything observable to them, that putting a booklet in someone's mailbox is going to have miraculous effects: "just imagine the sanity spreading to beings who need theta and direction in their lives!" I get tons of "mail" like this -- pamphlets, leaflets, booklets, fliers, magazines etc etc in my mailbox every day. It all goes straight into the garbage without a … [Read more...]
Family Interventions and Deprogrammings
Here's an interesting article from Narconon, pushing the virtues of interventions. This is how they describe what an intervention is: Family intervention is a common approach used because it provides the right nudge toward treatment. Family interventions work, but it is difficult to predict how the intervention could unfold. Certified family intervention specialists have the training to prepare a family for what to expect. Most family interventions use pressure to encourage an addict to admit to their problem and seek treatment. A group of close friends and family come … [Read more...]

Stories About Ron — the Back Story
A few days ago I did a posting about the fact that Wick Allcock was telling stories about Hubbard in Melbourne: Personal Stories About Ron -- Sort Of When I did the post, I was reminded by my old friend Karen De La Carriere about an earlier post at Tony Ortega's blog written by Rod Keller Sailing with L. Ron Hubbard In that post, Rod recounted some of the history of Wick, prompted by another promotional piece where he was riffing on Ron in Tampa. I wonder what he said about the "research" for NED for OT's? That Hubbard suffered another heart attack and David Mayo was … [Read more...]
